Id imagine the only way Spurs would have let him go was with a low buy back clause. It represents an excellent piece of business on our part, albeit would be gutted to lose him

Oh I know mate. I’m just passed off that that’s all it was. Good profit by us if it happens. Depends on the amount as I guess nobody will actually know!!

Why spurs will take him back then sell at double the cost at a minimum.

Can Cirkin just say no to Spurs? They will have to agree a contract with him so could he simply not demand silly money. Surely he needs to have control over where he ends up, not Spurs.

Well absolutely. The contract they offer has to meet his demands. But they can offer far more than we can money wise. Not sure about his football education.

You obviously have contacts at the club Prehab and have much more info than I do, but the days of football slavery are long gone and contracts forcing players to move against their wishes are illegal.

Any buy back clause can only be implemented with the agreement of Cirkin

Cirkin reckons SAFC are his club now so fingers crossed he is true to his word

The assumption is that he'd go back if they came in for him, but in all honesty does he even get in their matchday squad?

I dont think we have any say there. Its a buy back clause rather than a "First option" clause

Yes you beat me to it, I just edited my post and took that bit out, if they meet the agreed price they can buy him back but only if Cirkin wants to move.

That's the key bit. He seems a grounded kid and I think he'd want to stay here and get games under his belt for now

i have said and many others have said we believe this squad can only improve, young lads still learning but i can see little improvements and understandings/partnerships developing, a way to go yet of course but some of our passing is a joy to watch...on the subject of cirkins buy back clause, i am hoping he has taken a look at other young players who moved for the big money to the big club and wasted away in the backroom somewhere and he sees a regular starting slot at a club that thinks the world of him a much better place to develop further.

Exactly what I was thinking mate. I hope Roberts is talking to him and saying 'you're better off staying here and playing'. It will come down to money of course but I'd like him to stay.

He just needs to go and speak to his current teammate and left sided partner to find that out. Hopefully he takes what happened to Clarke onboard and decides it's best to stick around a while.

If I was Spurs I’d buy him back for £6 million and let him stay here for the next couple of years.
He will be worth so much more than if he goes back there to play for their reserves.

They can wait until his time here is up and then offer him 10 times what we could afford to pay him but still leave him here to improve.
He probably loves it here but money talks.

Maybe he doesn’t want to go back to Spurs if he thinks he will not be playing any first team football.
I wouldn’t think he would want to go to Brentford.

I wonder if Spurs could buy him for £6m and immediately sell him for £30+m to Liverpool for example (or for £100m to the Arab club on the northern outskirts of Sunderland)

Spurs could do that, but Cirkin would have to agree to it.

It doesn't matter who bids what and when, if Cirkin doesn't want to go he's not going

Your last paragraph is apparently what they want to do. Buy him back for 6m then sell him for whatever the price is and make a profit. Seems a bit of a **** on to me but hey ho. It would be interesting, and refreshing, if Cirkin told them to **** off though. <laugh><laugh>

Imagine the discussion between spurs and Cirkin, at some point they would have to mention their ideas and hopes for him.

What sane person is going to agree to sign for them just to be sold so they make money? He'd be thinking I will just go direct and make it myself.

It's an absolute non story, spurs are not buying him just to sell him on for a few million.

Actually had that ever happened in English football before?

I'd imagine Spurs would tell Brentford not to bother bidding with us and they would negotiate the deal separately with them. The player and agent would know the crack at each stage and get a fair wedge for the deal(s).

Anything is possible these days, but it's hypothetical at this stage (and its Nixon in the Sun).

I'm still buzzing from the result and trying not to pay too much attention to this sort of stuff <laugh>, although it will happen at some point with our players as that's the model we have gone for.

Just like Southampton lost Bale, Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain, Shaw etc.

The more rumours get printed the better performing the players will be doing.

We all know eventually the big clubs will pick off the best we have, as long as we replace them well then I'm relaxed about it.

We play some quality football that's a joy to watch at times and long may it continue
