Saying that a defender of Williamson's quality, a player that cleared the ball out because he lacked the bottle to take any responsibility and make a simple pass at the back, a player who was 6ft 3, but weak as piss, and had the balance of a drunken Donkey, is better than Saylor is the biggest insult ever.
Williamson has never and never will be as good as Saylor ever was when he had a proper run of games, not just the odd appearance.
When Saylor is first choice and plays regularly, he's class. Play him not so often, he's not that great. He was obviously frustrated and upset with the amount of time he was out, due to his back luck with injuries. Mentality plays a big part in the way a player performs. He's always had the ability, but it was hard for him to come back and regain his form.
When he first came back, he'd push up the pitch far too much because he was so eager to impress and make up for the time out by scoring a goal.
His eagerness to attack sometimes clouded his judgement in defense and he left us bare at the back. It was nothing to do with his ****ty positional awareness, it was his mentality. He's sorted that out now and knows that he needs to be a rock at the back, and that will do us. His goals are just a bonus. As long as he remains solid and keeps on shouting "****ing come on" in front of the gallowgate end, at every home game, we'll love him and respect him as a player.
