Personally I think Simpson deserves the stick that he gets most of the time, frustratingly he cannot stay with his man and forces Williamson out of position to cover his back, he also backs off his attacker until its too late far too often, however he has improved since the championship and I feel he could be a great defender if he could tighten up his game a bit, hes good at getting forward aswell.

i dont rate him anymore i think he could be better of a loan to championship to have more experience...im just saying

Everyone was raving about Simpson before the spurs game saying he was one of the players of the season, but he's an easy target and people have now turned on him. Fickle IMO, same as Guthrie except the other way around, people loved him in the CCC, a couple of poor games they hated him, and now he's flavour of the month again.

I agree that unfortunately thats how a lot of our fans act with almost any player we have, I admitted that hes improved this season and never liked him much in the championship if I'm honest, hes got improving to do, but until he stops making obvious mistakes people will never completely warm to him, including myself, so if that makes me fickle aswell so be it.

Taylor every time. He's the only defender who hasn't had a shocker so far (Colo Vs Bolton, Willo Vs Wigan, Simpson Vs WBA, Enrique Vs Bolton, Campbell Vs Liverpool). He's a lot better on the ball than Willo, he has good judgment, he puts his foot through it when he's under pressure and plays it out when he has time. Whereas Willo and Colo tend to play each other into trouble or rake it forward when they have time to pick out Barton or Tiote. Taylor's also a leader, he organises the rest of the defence, he's the only one who communicates.

Also Willo has this horrible knack (don't know whether it's a technical deficiency or just bad luck) of deflecting the ball into his own net.

I do tend to agree with what you say AbGlo and I do again on some points but not on others. I do think that Taylor is better on the ball than Williamson (Williamson seems like a no-nonsense centre back, hoofing the ball up). However this is also what I like about Williamsons game, i'm guessing you've heard the saying 'if in doubt, kick it out'...well Williamson does this and I agree with this being a defender. Also Williamson is better in the air defensively than Taylor, although Taylor seems to get better in the air in the oppositions box. On another note, Williamson has a better reading of the game and better positional sense than Taylor btu on the other hand Taylor wears the badge on his sleeve and puts his body (or arm/hand) on the line when needed.

Looking at what i've just put, there doesn't seem to be too much between them but I feel more comfortable with Williamson at the back and I think he has a better understanding with Colocini than Taylor.

That is however jsut my opinion...it does seem to have split quite a lot of people though which can only be a good thing for the squad...a player who is good enough from the bench!

I think Simpson has been solid, I don't want to make it sound like he's as good as G. Neville was but he's that sort of player. Never really has a mare but never seems to get the plaudits. Where G. Neville was always a 7.5/10 player (no matter what the score was), I think Simpson is a 6.5/10 player, no matter what the score is. He just gets on with his job.

taylor is far the better defender, he also offers more of a threat in the box at corners and free kicks! i think he's better then collo but i am bias :P willo and taylor will form our central pairing for a few years ti come !

They are both RCBs so they wouldn't fit in the same team, you need a RCB and a LCB. Anyway Colo is playing fantastic for the second season running. He is a legend and is loved by most fans. This season Colo, Nolan, Bartoon, Carroll and Tiote have been our key players. We need Colo if we are going to finish 12th or above.

errrr no u dnt! providing u have two reasonably good defenders they can slot in either central position! communication is 80% of the job in that area! they would be amazing

They have to be really really good to play in the RCB and LCB position. Just look at England vs Germany in the world cup. The best English defender, John Terry, was moved from LCB (his normal position) to RCB and look what happened there. Also the vast majority of the best CBs in the world only play in one of the two CB positions (LCB or RCB) throughout their whole career.

I think when Tiote is playing it covers the problem of having 2 RCB in the team and against a defensive side Saylor gives that little extra from corners that could swing the match but one vs one just have to side with Williamson this season.

Really? I think hes looked a lot better since coming back into the team, I think the only times hes looked a bit shaky is when hes been put under unnecessary pressure from Simpson on the right tbh.

It might have been because he missed a few games but when he played at Sunderland he didn't look comfortable at all. He was better against Spurs though.

anyone know what IMO mean?

In my opinion.

When I see or hear the team news I'm always more at ease when I see Williamson is playing.

Taylor tends to back off abit too much for me. Its like strikers see this and smack it at him, it hits either his hand/arm or takes a deflection and ends up in the back of our net.
