Who was it that taught the Queen to speak in that bloody awful manner that she did in her early years as Queen. Whoever it was should have been banished to the tower.

The Royals use an accent called "Received Pronunciation". Watched a video on accents a few weeks ago on you tube, popped up on my feed for some reason, one bloke doing loads of accents from around the country. Anyway, the Queens accent got a mention as an example.

    A Great Prince Philip short story that I‘ve just seen . . . .

A reporter asked the Prince how his flight had been.
“Have you ever flown ?” Philip asked

    “Yes, sir” said the reporter

“Well, it was like that.” said Philip :emoticon-0136-giggl

We certainly do mourning with knobs on.
Totally enthralling what we've just seen, can't think of another country could put this sort of thing together.
    Monday will be immense.

I echo what everyone else has said about this. If we were to lose all of these traditions and ceremonies we would lose a huge part of this country's cultural heritage and cultural identity.

And just to reiterate a point I made the other day, appreciating all of this doesn't mean that you don't care about other things that are going on this country.

6 hours a shift for the vigil. That's going to take some effort

I was just thinking that. I was also thinking I'd be absolutely ****ting it if I was one of those lads that had to carry the coffin in.

Think I’m in a minority in having no interest in watching the funeral or any of the other things with it. Hope nobody’s offended by that. I didn’t know her, I never met her,

im not being disrespectful here. Just I’m very much an atheist so why watch a church service for someone I don’t know?

I don't think that's disrespectful. Everyone is entitled to their own view. It's not like you're stood along the route of the procession shouting at them.

I see the Royal family as a very visible and recognisable part of the mixture of things that makes up the identity of this country. Therefore, I consider all of this stuff to be a significant historical event that I want to witness and experience.

I'm certainly no Royalist, but the way our country have dealt with this at such notice is amazing, England just knows how to do pomp and ceremony...This is history wether you are a Royalist or not.

I'm a bit like that too, I've mourned her in my own way and a lot more than I would for other public figures I've never met, but I haven't watched barely any of the subsequent ceremonies.

My wife on the other hand is fascinated by all of it and wants to be an observer of history being made which I totally understand just don't feel the need to do it myself.
