It doesn't look like they have, but who's to say his demands were such that they didn't want to bow down to them? The truth as usual will be somewhere in the middle
FWIW Norwich fans hate Neil and say he was always after more money - either to sign players or his own contract. Even when they invested heavily he moaned about investment
He played Preston for more money. He pretended he was off to Stoke when he was there before Preston made him a bigger offer. Maybe our club were well aware of this.
I just hope there isn’t a knock on affect, Stewart could be next if the rumours are true. A great start could disintegrate within a week.
People say he's been backed, has he? How many of these players brought and being brought in would Neil have been, yeah really want him here. Sounds to me Speakman calls the shots bigtime.
I liked the idea of Dyche but now that I have calmed down slightly he definitely wouldn't be suitable for the direction the club want to go.
Well the club either do the same again, and if the new man does well the same will happen. Or they end up giving a normal contract , perhaps after it's earned, meaning they should have done that in this case. A stupid act of self harm..
I think there are a couple of transfer philosophies that CAN work hand in hand - bring in players capable of improving the 1st team (Evans. Simms, Ballard, clarke etc) but also look for young talent abroad (Bennette, Dajaku) because no manager stays here lonfer than about 18 months so we have to have a long term strategy that exists outwith the short term demands of the manager. Where we run into danger is if philosophy 2 takes money away from philosophy 1 and the manager spits his dummy out
This is my worry. A week to go for the window. Club need to move quickly and decisively Players will be feeling very unsettled they were absolutely on board with Neil
I am saying, quite obviously, he is responsible for stability and continuity throughout the club and currently it isn’t looking good on that front (his 3rd manager in 18 months). We are on the crest of a wave, playing good football and we’ve just managed to lose one of the best managers we’ve had for a good while, to a team not as good as us and a club with less potential.
I’m not sure we will ever know Neil’s true feelings Billy lad. He could use that now as an excuse for doing a runner for more money
Players are notoriously fickle - give it 2 weeks with the new manager and they will have to think hard to remember the old coach's name Bennette must be wondering WTF is going on like
We just need an announcement he is gone and we are talking to players now. I for one think Stoke have been in his ear since last week and he has given an indication he will go and they have pulled the trigger on Jones and made an official approach but for me this all started after Saturday. It's moved too quick for a man who was in a joband should have been preparing his team for match tomorrow.
His job is not just that. He is ok at building a youth model and approach with innovative data analysis. He should be into head of recruitment or AOL manager. Not the person who is the ultimate power on all football matters. He simply isn't good at doing it.
Sorry but there is no possible way anyone would know the details of why he left yet, he hasn't even been announced stoke manager officially yet. A lot of rumour and speculation flying around at the minute. At the end of the day he didn't have to speak to stoke but he chose too.
You’re right. But Just wished the window wasn’t open if Stewart were to go on the back of this a lot of good work will have been undone
