I think energy already is a problem (at least on the petrol side). The current prices are already 50% higher than they were since last match. You are right though that it will be further compounded by energy rises in october and the increased use across winter. We already knew about this problem at the beginning of the year and nothing has been done except that 400 quid loan.
A sensible post. Some others just don't get it. We gave a good guy at work a modest pay rise yesterday, who was on a low wage. His reaction was of genuine relief, even mentioned that it would come in handy for the energy price rises. People are terrified now. I do OK and we have a small household of 3. A massive hike would be hard for us to cover. There's no way a family of 4 or 5 on low income will cope. Something has to be done before it pushes people over the edge. Not to mention all of the businesses that will go to the wall because of the increases combined with general lack of disposable income impacting their sales. Should the majority really be working only to merely exist in 2022? In some cases, even that will become very difficult. Desperate times.
What happened to cause these massive power price rises Power companies Green levies Government rules Price gouging
I have retired now Dave and resident of France so out of it but still sad. Just Before I finished work my ex employer had been involved with over 9500 U.K. companies that had relocated to new head offices in Europe. Majority were in the financial sector … Billions of pounds We also did a lot of publishing for the U.K. government for Brexit and during CoVid When you get to look under the bonnet of things you can see how the engine works I can state in terms of U.K. politics there is no engine. Corporations saw this immediately and reacted. Some good news for the blind Anglo Saxons nearly every account I worked on I saw that reversible strategies were accounted for but the fact remain why did they not have confidence in the U.K.?
Right old mess but it was predictable imo Sad to see the U.K. in such a position and sorry but it’s going to get a lot worse
We're mostly Norwegian. Problem is, countries like Germany are now competing to buy it. So it's in short supply.
We are but the gas we buy will now be bought by the Germans so that will push our prices up and has done
please log in to view this image Nigel Farage @Nigel_Farage Truss and Sunak continue to make wild pledges in the Tory leadership campaign. This is simply ridiculous when the Conservatives haven’t even delivered their 2019 manifesto.
BP reports profits of £7bn in the second quarter, on the back of gas and oil prices, no added value, productivity or any actual work involved. Thank god Truss, when she is anointed Tory queen, wants to cut the tax they pay. Nothing ****ed up about her principles.
All for businesses making a profit but this is obscene during these times. Snouts and troughs comes to mind.
But we can't do anything about it because they might take their snouts and bury them into someone else's trough. We are not even allowed to snuffle around for windfalls. Of course what they don't tell you is that: We are not even allowed to snuffle around for windfalls. 1 They won't leave at all. It's far too cosy and easy for them 2 The real reason is because they have been bought by the owners of those businesses. The money raised in taxes and given to these people, many of whom have the skills only to **** up a piss up in a brewery, simply go back into the coffer of the Conservative party and not the public purse from which they originated.
