Surely we are in for him too? "Manchester City have given 19-year-old English midfielder James McAtee the green light to go out on loan this season, with Leeds United and Nottingham Forest linked." https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-city-green-light-james-mcatee-transfer/
I think there are something like 10 teams in for him For that position we might now be in a position where we have to move someone on first though
I'd like to think that we have an advantage with Joe Shields coming here and with what happened with Tino and Broja last season.
Cucurella hands in transfer request at Brighton. He feels Brighton's 50mill asking price is unrealistic. Oh dear, he's thrown his toys out of the pram.
I mean, I certainly wouldn't complain about swapping Bednarek for Colwill with an extra £15m or something in our pockets.
I assume we are only demanding 30m from them. And don’t blame us to be honest If that is our general asking price then clearly we don’t want to sell - but I have read people suggesting that we are looking for buyers i don’t know how this made it into a rumour aggregator (even a ropey one). Source is a polish chelsea fan. Not a journalist or anything like that
I don’t think many would which is why I don’t see it happening ! I’d even consider a straight swap for Colwill based on what I have heard about him. Might confuse Chelsea though I guess more to the point - many would likely take 15-20m for him. He is a competent premier league defender but isn’t best suited to our system. Tuchel is very defensive (arguably too defensive) and he might do well there
I noted this earlier and remembered how all the Brighton fans piled on to Romano’s tweets about this claiming he was happy, wouldn’t kick up a fuss, they wouldn’t need to sell etc It didn’t even cross their minds he would submit a transfer request when it seemed obvious to me this was the direction it was going in I guess it is their first exposure to having a good season and seeing the vultures circle. We are more used to it as an idea (even if it has been a few years)
He isn't good enough for us! If, by some miracle, we got £30m for him then that would be sensational business.
I’d definitely sell for that price But I do have a suspicion he’d do better for them than he has recently for us. He has a couple of small flaws that get exposed in a team like ours…. At Chelsea I imagine he’d look more like a regular international CB
Yeah more than happy with £30m but regarding the player mmmmm I not so sure, I think there is a decent footballer in there but over the last couple of seasons he never appeared particularly comfortable playing for us (possibly for the manager), he might well prove to be solid in a different set up. Mind you I thought the same about Vesty so my judgement is probably flawed by the fact that I love all our players (with the possible exception of Walcott) whilst they're on our books.
