Turns what around? A couple of preseason friendlies? He improved on mccanns form with effectively the same squad last term and comfortably kept us up. We've had a **** week in preseason and the league hasn't started. What is he turning around? There is expectation on him yes, but there's no suggestion he hasn't met the required standards set so far.
Have you listened to that humberside sports talk interview yet? Did you feel Seri spoke better and more directly than Shota?
Possession stats can be misleading. A team can spend half the game passing the ball around their back 4 and going nowhere - but getting great possession stats. It's not how much possession you have, but what you do with it that counts. Didn't Burnley once beat Liverpool 2-0 with about 19% possession?
Oh of course, I fully agree. But I also think some of the worries from a few ppl on here are perfectly valid, given how poor some of our recent games have been, the lack of creativity and general play at times is a concern. You would have hoped the players we've brought in would see us improve in these areas, which is why some negativity towards Shota is deserved in my opinion. Saying that, its early days, lets see how we look once the transfer window is shut and the players have had time to settle a bit.
Oh I get it, just feel we are best comparing ourselves to Cardiff at present. They’ve turned over as much as us so will be interesting how they get on early doors
Concerns are valid. Write-offs, sackings, judgements etc aren't yet before we've even kicked a ball in anger.
Don’t know if Shota’s lack of English is why his communication is so bad or if he just lacks clarity of thinking. Hope I’m wrong but I’m leaning towards the latter and the closer the season gets the more nervous I’m feeling.
The only stats that count are goals for and goals against. Those are the only things that determine the outcome of a game.
No point having 20 corners which don’t get past the first defender if the other lot only have 1 corner which ends up with their player rising above the defence and powering home a header either.
I don't know the guy so I don't want to make any assumptions, but Turkish people are pessimists in general... You could ask him about Messi and he would find something negative to say. Source: am turkish
Haha, you're right that's the vibe I'm getting from this forum. You guys seem to be very reactionary, like us Turkish fans (I guess we are all passionate about football). One week we are going to PL and Acun is Jesus Christ reborn, next week people are asking for Shota's head after a meaningless pre-season game... I do find the lack of attacking chances concerning, but can we just calm the f down and let the team settle and the manager do his job before coming to any conclusions?
