I do not pretend to have any knowledge of possible transfer targets, so I am unable to add anything of value to any serious conversations. However, I do know a good feed line when I see one...
Just thinking… …unless my maths is off, we’ve spent more in this window than #warchest3 Newcastle. Which is the type of thing to put a smile on my face.
Levi Colwill with his uncles(who play for sholing) at st Mary’s last night. Perhaps they’re on the wind up a bit with these posts, but Chelsea do have a friendly in Italy on Friday. Think we might have to selll to buy in the centre back department, but it seems likely that Colwill will be out on loan again this season.
I know we’ve all been surprisingly impressed by the evolution of Valery, but if we’re trying to revolutionise the squad is it really acceptable to have him and Stephens still be rotation options? I think we are more ambitious than that at the moment. Colwill is a player that Chelsea actively seem to not want to sell. It would be fun to be able to get him and watch a player at a big club try to force a move to us.
That's a big compensation fee for a 16 year old! That's one and half Rickie Lamberts. If he continues to develop and impress then we will just buy him back again in 2 or 3 years when theres no pathway into Chelseas team.
I wonder if you can negotiate things like sell on clauses with this sort of deal. It seems this has been completed as an ordinary transfer rather than fighting it out at tribunal. Big shame for Saints, hopefully he doesn't go on to have a top career and be the one that got away!
We have a choice of agreeing with Chelsea or letting it be resolved by tribunal. It seems Chelsea made us a reasonable offer. Tribunals often stipulate small fees but they do include future payments and percentages. We must have been happy to make some kind of a deal with them.
Worth noting that some of our fans wanted Pope, Tarkowski and Mee. And we were linked with Brownhill and some even still said they’d have Cork back (i definitely saw it mentioned) Then of course Cornet There are sometimes good signings to be made from relegated clubs. Liverpool made a habit of it with Wijnaldum, Robertson and I think Shaqiri. But not signing a bunch of them I don’t know enough about Tarkowski to know if he will dramatically change Everton. As for McNeil - don’t they already have lots of wingers?
There is someone on Saintsweb who has lost their head and seemed to think we could try and leverage Chelsea’s interest in him to our benefit - such as for Colwill or something (surprise surprise they were not specific as to how)
McNeil is very average., Don't think he will offer much.. could be wrong but I just don't think he is what Everton really need.
