Ffs...we are playing friendlies with new players..what do you expect...Will need time to gel that's all.
I can’t remember the Wolves game, so I’m assuming he stunk up Charlton more, at least it was his last appearance for us.
What worries me is Shota seems to have full faith in a system that didnt really work from the beginning. We struggled to create chances last season let alone score goals. 1 loan striker with 2 wingers and 2 wingbacks could work, if the idea is to get it wide and pepper the box with crosses, with a big lump of a forward to nod it home, but that doesnt seem to be the plan. A manager should always have a plan b, c etc.. We dont seem to be switching to different formations in games which is odd.. surely if your losing a game and have zero shots on goal, you'd want to turn it around, maybe switch to a back 4 and put on another attacking player... Shota, a bit like McCann seem to stick with the same formation and simply make subs expecting a massive difference.
I think by the time you play your last preseason game, you need certain things in place. Formation and an idea of a starting 11. You’d like to finish that game positively to take you into your first game. We aren’t sure on a system and have a load of better players (hopefully) but still suffer from the old teams issues. A lack of creativity and concede poor goals
In three friendlies. And if those games are to practice we sure aint practicing shots on goal. And normally albeit owngoals we have to shoot on goal to score!
Jelavic was ****. Bit harsh mate. 11 goals for us in the PL wasn't it? If that makes him **** then what does it make the likes of Dave Sunley, Dave Bamber, Alf Wood, Paul Hunter and some of the other unremarkable strikers we have enjoyed / endured over the years?
Jelavic at Charlton away was the worst attitude I've ever seen from a City player, outside of Ben Arfa at Man United. I thought it was Wolves away where he couldn't be arsed. Clearly wanted out once we went down into the Championship
The side that played Cambridge certainly didn’t struggle. Perhaps it’s because they’ve played together longer one thing I know is Tufan should not be starting next week. Id rather Docherty or Cannon based on their showings today. Williams and Elder as our wing backs too as Fleming got injured today
Perhaps it was just because they know they've got to earn their place on Saturday where the first team took it as a training session? Either way if Shota doesn't get more out of them on Saturday then i don't see Acun as a man of patience. He hasn't put us on TV8 to be defensive, unadventurous, slow and disinterested.
Do we know what’s happened to Longman? I’d have us back with 3421 and have Longman and Allahyar either side of Estupiñán instead of Tufan.
Was definitely Wolves where he was awful, very good for us in the premier league but could tell he didn’t want to be in the championship.
Nothing mentioned of him. He was in the West Stand on Wednesday though. Him and Jones dearly missed for me
You've gotta wonder whether formation has been down to players available for the last couple of games.
Me too, but a midfield of Seri and Slater would get thrown about like an empty tracksuit. I’ve seen taller and stronger u15s. That’s no criticism of Seri and Slater btw; they’re both gifted midfielders and it’s not their fault they’re short and not physically-imposing but they’d get bullied.
