Haven't seen Adanu play. Saw he scored 7 goals in 30 games last season and similar numbers in 14 games on loan the year before. What are his attributes and potential they see in him?
So what are everyone's thoughts on SaintRob? I follow him on Twitter, and he seems to me, that his posts turn out to be reasonably accurate.
20 of those were starts so 7 in 30 is a little misleading as a headline. I read somewhere suggesting one goal involvement per approx every 150 minutes We had links to him back in February and the spring. He is also linked to Leeds (of course), West Ham and some German sides (including the other red bull one) Apparently he can also play right wing but I’d imagine in a more conventional system than a 4-2-2-2. The rumoured fee is 8.5m which given that we need to bring in at least 2 strikers is a good price on paper. Especially has his contract runs to 2025. Can only assume it is another case of wanting to raise funds. Plus likely relying on a sell on being added in? According to someone on Twitter he liked the Instagram post about our new signing this week. Which some people are of course taking as a big deal. They have never shared a club and don’t share a nationality so there isn’t an obvious reason why he would have done this. Hence the hope / theory that it is because they will be playing together? But for all I know he could like loads of transfer posts. No idea how you’d find out or if you even could
I saw something earlier about a rules change for the reserve leave. Turning it into an either u23 or u21 league but there was a transition period. At least for next season I am sure I read you will be allowed 5 over age players (instead of 3) and an over age goalkeeper So there is a chance Lis isn’t going out on loan ?
If the loan is to try and help him get a work permit then he still will. Won’t be able to play in any UK league without one
Seems to happen a lot that reports will say “club have agreed personal terms but not reached agreement with selling club”. I guess it makes sense to chat to the player/agent first to see if the player is interested in the move and what wages he’d want before hashing out a deal with the selling club. You’d assume the headline terms on the player side of it should be relatively quick to work out, where as a more complex transfer deal might take much longer.
Yeah - there is no sense bidding and haggling wit the selling club if you then find out that the player simply has zero interest or wants double what you'd reasonably expect to pay But I am wondering if this has always been the way or if there was some kind of change. Because Liverpool clearly stepped over the line with VVD. Is that simply that they didn't ask our permission first? Or were rules changed around that time to benefit the big boys?
I think it was more a permission thing with VVD. Id also imagine that you talk to the players agent with headline terms, sort that out, get a bid accepted, then meet with the player and talk much more detail on how’d they fit in, clauses in contract etc. Sounded like Liverpool asked us about him and we said no, then they went on a jolly to Blackpool anyway and talked about tactics and how’d he fit in the system etc
He's raw, but he's two footed and handy in the air. Quick and tricky type that gets into decent positions.
If he can’t get a work permit, then we can’t register him as our player and therefore technically we can’t loan him out? Perhaps it is possible, but the process doesn’t sound like it would be allowed
It's like when we had Jan, Jannik and Yan at the back(also rYan)! Also on the subject of names BWP, JWP and KWP all in about 15 years!
You can loan out a player without having them registered in the squad. Liverpool had a player (Taiwo Awoniyi) in work permit exodus for several years, before finally selling him to Union Berlin last season. Whereupon he scored 15 goals and almost took Union Berlin to the Champions League, heh.
Don't let the fact that we've signed Ralf's Assistant, 2 goalkeepers and a defender mask that we've now been 2 days without a signing!?! Dragan, Rasmus, Henrik, Semmens, Ralf, Kitman & Tea Lady OUT!!!
Not where I thought we would prioritise one of our two loan slots. Notably because he wouldn’t be guaranteed a start and we need to be looking for someone who can permanently replace Romeu I guess the more nervous types will think that brining in Svanburg and Lakonga points to a JWP exit But we have one slot in CM in my opinion so it could be Diallo moving on. Or Svanburg could be being signed with a view to mould him into one of the 10s - I gather that wasn’t Armstrong’s natural position when signed and he has been converted into the only half good one we have in that role
My understanding is that Svanberg is box-to-box, and has excelled at CM in a defensive Bologna side. Ergo his tackling/defensive play is good. I think we need him at CM, because the one thing JWP/Romeu don't do is provide much decent attacking play, and Svanberg can do this (apparently). On Lokonga, seems like he's flopped at Arsenal. Not a rumour I'm excited about.
