    Not good news
    But no one seems bothered
Makes me wonder about the payments for these new players we keep getting linked with from turkey

Seems strange we're able to attract all these international players on competitive wages but can't offer a satisfactory deal for Honeyman.

Know what is the case? As mentioned above, Baz confirmed Honeyman rejected our contract offer.

Maybe they’re just offering him what they think he’s worth?

I'd hope they have better judgement than that. I can't imagine Honeyman is looking for a substantial increase.

Gutted if we can’t get Honeyman on a longer deal.

I'm not surprised they are allowing Elder to leave if the right offer comes along. Shota sees Fleming ahead of Elder now, and I'm not so sure he would be happy warming the bench. Maybe they feel there is enough cover within the academy, should Fleming get injured, or they may well bring another left-back in as cover?

On Honeyman, both he and the club are probably playing hardball to get the best deal done for both sides. He is here for another year, so maybe just see how things go up to Xmas, with the incomings, it might turn out George is not a regular starter, which throws up a completely different situation.

I think that’ll be the case, he excelled in Grants high intensity direct style frequently but only stood out a handful of times under Shota.

Pre season hasn’t even started yet, the fact we are even trying is encouraging to people. Honeyman has been our main man for 2 seasons it’ll be interesting how he reacts to competition

If he wants to be first choice and has players coming in ahead of him, then no amount of money will be a 'satisfactory offer'.

No player who we want to keep will be told he will not be first choice or vice versa, it’s more a case of having the confidence that you will be and been prepared to fight for your place. I think if you are told that you will be down the pecking order then it’s a sign you are not overly wanted. Healthy competition in any team is good and needed.

No, but if you bring in players on more money then players usually take that as an indication of their standing within the squad.

I agree we need competition for places though, absolutely. It's why I want us to keep him - that, and a feeling that his engine will be a real asset if we're shifting the balance of play to being more technical. Can the incomings cover the ground he does?
