Found this on Youtube the greatest sporting moments ever

Sixth minute in is the goal that made Deeney a legend

I remember being at that game. Liverpool fans clapped us off the pitch.

I remember three bouts of cheering

The first at the final whistle

The second when we found out we were second

The third when the score came in from Man City and Luton stayed up

We have always had more class than them

I think some have just selected their best mate from when they were here or favourite player.

Mariappa and Doyley were very good pals.

Mind you all of those were decent players in their time.
I agree.

And there is a difference between a skilful player and a tough player, often. I always loved Steve Sims, but he wasn’t a silky player exactly. ;) I would say we’ve had more skilful left backs than Robbo, but he was tough to get past and most lighter right-wingers didn’t want to risk trying, often!
Odion is probably the closest we’ve had to a Luther since Luther played, and he had a great relationship with Troy. Luther and Troy would have been deadly, imho.
I would have Lloydinho in over Gibbsy, too. Close call, but I think Lloyd just gets it.
Midfield is a whole other area. Do you pick players who were great ‘on their day’, players who were great ‘in their day’, or players who are great today?! Tough call. Interested to hear others’ suggestions for that.

As I say there have probably been some selections made through friendships and who they have played with or seen.

Call me biased, but there's no way Mariappa should be ahead of Ian Bolton.

And I'd have Wolf Rostron at left back as well as Les Taylor instead of Cleverley. Taylor was the final piece of the jigsaw that made that 82 side great.
Bolton and Rostron were both probably the better players.... . and of course it all depends on the game played.....
