I have absolutely no recollection of being at the match whatsoever... I can only guess that I was out with my Dad celebrating his 60th birthday... I've no recollection of that either but I rather suspect that's why I don't remember the match.Who ended up in the pond or on the pitch then?!

Mariappa and Doyley were very good pals.
Mind you all of those were decent players in their time.
Bolton and Rostron were both probably the better players.... . and of course it all depends on the game played.....Call me biased, but there's no way Mariappa should be ahead of Ian Bolton.
And I'd have Wolf Rostron at left back as well as Les Taylor instead of Cleverley. Taylor was the final piece of the jigsaw that made that 82 side great.
