Morning lads. My wife and I had a baby boy last month so he’s been taking up all my time and I’ve been trying to get to grips with it!

instead of spouting my anti-hendo bias on here, I can now say it all to my lad and he won’t question it.

Don't brainwash the poor thing! Let us do that instead.

Congrats on having a baby. <ok>. Remember the secret to successfully raising a baby is lots and lots of cocaine so you don't feel like sleeping.

Congratulations!

It's boss having kids, your first is hard bloody work though. Terrifying at times, look after your lady and everything will be alright.

Good luck lad.

Thank you all, appreciate the lovely comments.

yep, this is the first one so it’s all a massive learning curve but I think it’s already getting better. The little one is now able to sleep for around 30 mins - 60 mins bursts during the night which is better than the first 1-2 weeks where I would have to stay awake the whole night :( can’t wait for the days when he sleeps for at least 2-3 hours at a time!

I think I’m getting used to the broken sleep however it will become a lot tougher once I go back to work next week as I’ll have to get back into a routine of some sort. I was lucky to have 6 weeks off from work!

Gotta admit, don't know how people go back to work with a little one at home. Working from home during the pandemic made it manageable, wouldn't have coped else.

I found the second harder. With one, you pass the baton to your partner and have a break. With two, you've got one each!

I was a bag of ****e with my eldest, didn't have a clue what was going. Spent the first 18 months terrified I was going to **** it up. Jumped every time he cried, panicked about every descion.
Thought I was doing everything wrong, it was not an enjoyable time.

The second was alot easier, having some sort of a clue about what was going on.

By the 4th it was easy, tiring still but much more enjoyable.

As with everything you put yourself under pressure, you want everything to be brand new, perfect, you don't want people to know you've got no ****ing clue what's going on.

As I had more i learnt what was Important and what was for show. It turns out 99% is for show, keep them alive, keep them moderately clean and fed, nothing else really mattered.

That’s how I live my life now to be fair.

I was like a duck to water with it, time management was the bigger issue for us.

Probably helped that I grew up around it; my mum was a child minder.

The third was difficult but that because it meant moving house getting a bigger car, etc

they are not that fragile. they are as likely to break if dropped as a phone so if you can manage to hold a phone... well you are sorted.

fill them up and wrap them up and plonk them in their basket or whatever. they are not delicate.

I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old. Both ****ing terrible sleepers. I have not slept decently for 3 years. 3 years!

3 year old still wakes up screaming in the middle of the night and my wife often ends up sleeping in his room.

1 year old has progressed from waking up every 20 mins just a month or two back to only being able to sleep literally lying on top of me, but then she only wakes up 2-3 times a night. Then again, she has a tooth coming through right now so woke up about 10 times last night screaming....

Apart from that, they are great. The 3 year old is an absolute nutter and makes me laugh all day.

I keep having to tell my wife this. She worries about every little thing and, with two of them now, worries that one or the other doesn't get enough attention.

They're alive and they're happy, that's all you can do!

We did that with no.2

Baby was on the way and we needed to move from tiny 2 bed flat to a house. I got made redundant, also losing the company car, but managed to get a new job, move house, buy a new car and have the baby...all in sodding Covid lockdown. Biggest stress of my life, but all done now.

look being serious I laid in bed listening to them breathe enough to know that its a complete and utter own panic situation, not a real thing.

They are in the end designed to be carried about like a baby chimp and live in the woods or caves or whatever so it really is important to break the worry and give yourself a break.

throw them a bone and let them fight over it. the fittest will survive after all ;)

We struggled in a two bed until the youngest was 3yrs old. Yep, three kids in a two bed <yikes>

Got four bedrooms now, lots of space for activities :1980_boogie_down:
