I'd still rather have two states outside of the stadium at the entrance. That does away with the problem.
I don't think stands should be named after individuals. Even less straightforward when it's a shared ground. There's only 4 stands. Presumably once a stand is named after someone then that's it. What happens when the next legend passes away? Far better to recognise by statues, naming suites, HoF, etc

Why? Did the SMC / council renegotiate when city where in the prem league?? We’ve had 500 mill + in income over the last 10 years or so.
So should we pay more rent????

It was a tongue in cheek comment.

I have always wanted the best for any club who represents the city but cannot abide any **** who slags City off and/or supports a professional football team outside of Hull (unless they have family ties). **** 'em and the club(s) they support.

Yep, I was thinking of all the deserving players that could have a stand named after them.

Waggstaff, Ashbee, Dawson etc. We'd soon run out of stands...

And in a few years not to be able to move for statues. As for hosting nights for Leeds and Liverpool legends at our stadium, why should we ? Are we so desperate for a few hundred quid that we have to stoop to these measures ? If they need to fill the sponsors suites now and again mid week then why not a Hull City legends night ? After all we have had more 'legends' playing for us over the last 20 years then leeds have.

Well said

Chilton is the club's all-time leading scorer and a record that is pretty much guaranteed to never be beaten. Also a local lad, pretty much a one club player and an ex Manager, so I think naming one after him is pretty much safe until the place falls down.

I think not naming stands after legends of the club because 'what happens when we have too many legends' is a problem we really shouldn't let us stop honouring greats of the past. Club's been around for 118 years and if we have another 4 legends of Chilton's stature in the next 118 years then that's a problem for then.

Not quite with you, are you suggesting that City have more than 3 other players as deserving of such an honour as Chillo?

It was not meant as a slight against Chillo (not saying you said it was, but just to clarify).
We'll need another 2, reserved for Ash (an incredible feat never going to be repeated - in fact why even wait?), and Waggy; and that's just from my era.
And of course 2 for Assam and Ehab, as they apparently saved us from oblivion and gave us the best ever of times (according to some at least :emoticon-0105-wink:).
Then there's also the complication that it's a shared stadium.
Also if it's say the East stand, it would ruin the east / south stand chants (another :emoticon-0105-wink:).
I'm in no way opposed to having a Chillo stand, I just don't think it's the way to go.

The problem isn’t in starting to name stands after players it’s when you decide to change the name.
Stadium naming is never a real problem.

We have new owners and not every side of the problems of the past eleven years comes out of this well, so can we just resist rewriting history.

I am not against any respectful memorial to any of our great players. Where does it start and stop though?

Distinction is Chillo is our leading goalscorer. Argument maybe for Ashbee as well, but anyone else I think a statue or something similar would be more appropriate.

Exactly. Where does it stop ? Chris Chilton and several other ex players, Andy Davidson for one, should be recognised somewhere in the stadium but it doesn't have to be a stand. Even a decent portrait or action shot of Chillo in his prime positioned somewhere within the stadium so it cannot be vandalised would be good.
And I'm still waiting for the recognition of the old Anlaby Road ground, never mind Boothferry Park, and all that would take is an information board.

Andy Davidson is one. One club man and he holds the record for appearances for the club.
We have far more history and historic events to remember then some of the tat presently draped up on the East Stand concourse most of which is embarrassing.

He's certainly another who could lay claim to a stand. Wagstaff, Chilton, Ashbee, Davidson. Sorted!
