been reading the former fans comments and watched his first interview, looks good for 31 mind but mainly he speaks well, not the usual 'soundbites' but comes across as a nice level headed lad...also, imho, exactly what we need right now a bloke who defends rather than some fancy dan that can 'play a bit' this lad is a defender first and foremost.
one of the north east journos said it was a free transfer. Id imagine having brought in jagielka they needed to free up wages
Stoke are one of the championship clubs supposedly in financial trouble, and possibly heading for a points deduction next year. Them Bristol City and Middlesborough are named in the press as likely to breach the 3 year cap on losses. I suspect Jagielka in on less wages than Batth was on.
Yeah...a certain philander wearing blue, was a no nonsense defender, won his headers and tackles. Then, as his passing was abysmal and acknowledged as such (didn't stop him winning England caps) he laid the ball off to Frank Lampard. Batth can lay the ball off the Dan Neil or Pritchard he does not need to do long passes.
Got the brace off his knee according to LJ but don't think he is back out on the grass yet. Not seen any pics anyway. Probably another 4 weeks I reckon.
Two people (I think) on SMB reckon Nick Barnes has been on total sport saying we should here about Roberts tomorrow
It's nice we are manager to get players,ie Roberts, Batth, Pritchard that are good enough for the Championship, yet are will to drop a leauge. That tells me that whatever plans the club are selling, the lads are buying.
