"RR: Finally, for Sunderland fans that are unsure on this signing, what would you say to them?

Mark: If you see Batth from the outset as a no-nonsense centre-back who’ll help you keep clean sheets, you’ll be happy. Just don’t expect Beckenbauer."

That's exactly what we need, cut out a chunk of the daft goals we concede and we'll be flying. Beckenbauer can wait until next season <cool>

We already have Beckendoyler. This is just his general alongside him.

I know its just twitter but its pretty refreshing to sign a player from the league above whose fans seem to either wish well knowing that his time is up, or some even wishing he'd stayed.

Always a good sign of the player we're signing if some of the fans didn't want him to leave

Great to see comments like that about him. He was player of the month for Stoke (who are in 8th place in the Championship) as recently as November last year and they wanted him to be skipper. It sounds like a bit of a coup to me.

Great info once again. What's your gut feeling about Defoe? Do you think we'll be seeing him back in a Sunderland shirt by the end of the month?

Wonder if Safc fancying the double scarf or stagger slightly for increased exposure. Either works for me

Tough one. I know there were a range of things to overcome and there was will on both sides. The fact he has been up here and still here (I think) is a good sign.

Appreciate the info. It's a big couple of weeks for the club. Roberts is huge signing that I think will impact us massively on the pitch. Defoe on the other hand will give the whole club a lift and the influence he will across the team would be invaluable... Fingers crossed
