My God daughters partner is black, he was at Palace but never made the grade, so he went to Greece to ply his trade, he said some games as 1 of 2 black players at the club they'd get a few Monkey chants and the banana treatment but what was the worst for them is when the players went out on a piss up after the game, some clubs openly refused them entry because of their colour, one said they were doing it to protect them, non of the clubs that did let them in however wouldn't allow them to go in to the VIP area although their team mates were. After a couple of months of this he didn't bother going in the end. He said he's never been racially abused as a spectator in the UK and as witnessed very little of it
One of his academy mates went to an Eastern European league, I forget which one, he had it a lot worse, he said it was bad enough getting abuse from the opposition fans but he would get it from his own, it was so bad he walked out of his contract just after 6 months. These incidents were only 8 years ago, the Eastern Europe one didn't surprise me but the Greek one did.

My football club has just introduced cashless at the ground, which now means all tickets have to be purchased online. Which means you either have to create an account or update your existing account. I went through the process of updating my account, and have now noted that they require you to upload a picture of yourself, from what I saw you can't procede without doing that. The only downside of the system is there was no verification process of the picture uploaded, ie in the same way government systems do, secure ID or whatever it's called.

I can see something in years to come, where the photo ID could be part of that same verification process, so particurlarly in the UK it would stamp out racism very quickly. My point being, the problem can be dealt with, it depends if the authorities really want to deal with it. Because once you've been identified as being racist, the systems could block you from purchasing future tickets, if applied alongside the verification system. Big Brother maybe, but it would certainly crack the majority of problems within football stadiums.

Much like social media, for example Twitter, verification systems are available to solve most of these problems, but it depends on the willingness of the providers to adopt them.

I remember a long time ago, late 70's a copper, fairly high up too, saying to me,we could virtually stamp out football violence but we have it relatively under control but if we did that research shows that violence would occur more randomly on the streets over a weekend because a lot of these individuals need their kick, and most of it would be racial attacks, that we'd have little control over and think it would escalate into something bigger.

Make them play all their matches away from home and don't allow any travelling supporters.

Only it's not Millwall supporters and could as easily be Spurs supporters or that of any other English club:

WOOLWICH, WEDNESDAY: Members of the far-right English Defence League (EDL) gather in Woolwich following the killing of Drummer Lee Rigby. David Cameron called the attack "sickening". Police had to guard against for backlash attacks on British Muslims.

I have to say it's just some players taking a knee for a few seconds, so what's the big deal. Let them do it and then enjoy the game.

I couldn't give a **** about it personally it's less of an inconvenience than watching nufc play that's for sure

Booing those famous British Marxists, Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling. These multi millionaire 20 somethings are rarely seen without a copy of the Communist Manifesto under their arms like.

I get the feeling that you're a little dissatisfied with the direction of your club, you know.
Maybe I'm wrong. Just a slight hint of something that I've picked up in your recent posts.

Just a bit bored of it now, but I did see someone cleaning 16 years of moss of the gallowgate roof yesterday, so maybe things are improving

    @PleaseNotPoll

Tbh I don't disagree with that statement.. They've actually spent slot the past 2 years given they spent nothing for the previous 11.

I think they should be asking why the side can't seem to play the game like clubs that haven't spent as much though and why the players they've bought are ****ing ****.

Keep up mate. They’re making it plain there that they had a limited budget this summer & it was Bruce’s choice to spend the lot on Willock. They’ve also reminded you all that they’ve spent £120m net since 2019 and this is Bruce’s team.

So basically they’re saying - blame Bruce for us being ****e lads, we’re mid table spenders & should be nowhere near the drop zone.

    He’s ****ed, dead man walking.
