Phil Hay now stating that Connor Galagher has been Leeds No1 target for midfield position and know home based will be more expensive than overseas, but Gallagher has done Championship seasons and now a full Prem season and still only 21yo

As in senior target?

Keepers, Kiko out new lad in, makes total sense.
Gallagher, only a loan, but we don't have to shell out a transfer fee and has prem experience and will not expect to walk into the first team. Makes sense.
Signing young lads, even if only 1 or 2 make it, think Kalvin or Jack Clark 10m! Makes sense.
Good work so far in the trannie market.

Evening Est,

Hows life pal?

Dutch clubs are coming in for Summerville on loan. Wonder what our stance is going to be. We brought him in to bolster our Prem2 squad and also to develop him into a 1st team player, so loaning him out would be a fail wojldnt it? We know what he can do in Dutch football because he was playing 1st team whan we signed him?

I like the look of Summerville. He is quick, skillful, works extremely hard defensively and has goals and assists in him. He does look a little bit lightweight but by the end of last season I thought he had shown enough to displace Costa or Poveda on the bench.

I reckon we only send him out if he doesn't impress pre season.

Agreed and to be fair he has bulked up as well. I put him ahead of Costa and Poveda simply because hes a fighter as well as fast and got goals in him. 6 goals and 6 assists last season but only played around a dozen games due to injury early on. His argument with Gelhardt over who was taking the penalty showed his metal

I'm a bit confused by this after our convo yesterday about the 3 year stay thing. What's Summerville's status - does he need to do his 3 years in england to qualify? If so, why would we send him back out on loan?

I can actually see him on the bench this season - especially if we don't bolster our pack of wingers.

Anyone remember those dark days when we were lucky to have 1 winger?

There has been 4 enquiries for Summerville mostly from Holland and Belgium. Not sure of the clubs stance as it may be everyone told to back off he isnt going anywhere. I dont know and like you I thought he isnt far off first team and in my opinion better than Costa

Doc, you're better than Costa! :D

It's that 3 year thing we discussed yesterday that confuses me. Has he already qualified somehow, or does he need to do another couple of years?

To qualify as home grown he needs to stay at the club for the next two years, but don't get to fixated on that fact WJ. Remember in our 25 man squad of players aged 21 or over, only 8 of these have to be home grown.

If the club thinks a player will be of more benefit to the club in years to come , by going out on loan to a foreign FA, as opposed to keeping that player here to enable him to gain home grown status, but at the sacrifice of his development, then its worth it.

Our 8 home grown players for the start of this season will be Ayling, Cooper, Bamford, Philips, Roberts, Strujik, Davis and Shackleton. Poveda becomes home grown next season as apparently the over aged status is based on your age at the first of January of that year. As Poveda didn't turn 21 until February, so for this season he is classed as being an under 21 player.

In addition despite still being classed as under 21 players and thus having no need to be registered to play for the first team, Casey, Greenwood, Gelhardt, Dramah and Huggins have already qualified as home grown players.

As well as Poveda, Meslier, Bogusz, Cresswell and Jenkins will also have the potential to qualify as home grown players before the commencement of the 2022/23 season

Cheers for that, Aski. You've already answered my next question, which was 'does home equal england, or all of the UK?' Guess it's UK.

Shame that it doesn't include Eire too, imo. It's not too late for Shako to give up brutalising pints & play for Leeds & brutalise the opposition instead! :D

Good graphic here on what we have from Focusonleeds on twatter for our u23's

You must log in or register to see media
Good post mate but it does show our weakness in defence until they bring in the Celtic kids or someone else. You can see that as of now Huggins, Davies are not going to be there unless we have a change of heart. Nohan Kenneh is great but having him in most defensive positions wont work. He excels as a DM but because hes so good he tends to get used everywhere. McCarron is really a midfielder not a LB, which means on that graphic we have no LB and only Drameh as RB, a 17yo as a CB partnering Cresswell…… so either use Huggins and Davies instead of moving them on, because Davies can also play CB or bring in a couple of new defenders
