They don't actually have a first team back up keeper. They have a loaned first choice keeper and then have their U21 keeper as a sub, knowing that if the first choice gets injured they can bring another in.

It's a silly rule but I can see more and more clubs going that way. If anything you could argue its pretty clever of them.

Goes to Peterborough ‘on emergency loan’ despite posh having x2 keepers on the bench and manages to help them with promotion.... Then the night before the play-off semi... Lincoln sign him ‘on emergency loan’ despite having another 2 keepers on their books.

It sounds completely underhanded but must be in the rules. Are there no other keepers available? Why would they want to sign a keeper who let in 3 goals against them?

Derek Forster became the youngest player ever to play for Sunderland and in a First Division match when he made his debut in 1964 aged 15 years 185 days.
Against Leicester City at Roker on our first match in the old First Division, match ended 3-3 he stepped in for Monty and played a few games at the start of that season.I was at that match.
He was later sacked in 1973 for selling on his cup final ticket allocation.

Was the one that got injured any good?

Brilliant Tees, that actually made le laugh out loud ...

... was he the one who conceded 3 goals against Lincoln <laugh>
Aye but he couldn’t be blamed for two of the goals, he made some fine saves and was really only beaten once.

One of the other goals came from a far post free header by someone left unmarked at a free kick and one from a penalty conceded by a defender.

I don't get it. I thought there was a rule that said a player couldn't play for more than two teams in the same competition and this will be his third stint with a league 1 club this season.

He started the season on loan at Donny, made over a dozen appearances before being recalled to Stoke where he also made over a dozen apps. Then went to Posh and made 6 apps. Now he will appear for Lincoln!

If that was Burge some people would be claiming he unsettles the defenders and is to blame for all three goals.

Shush! If you are correct and Lincoln win the play-offs and we come second, we can appeal to efl, they will cancel Lincoln’s promotion because they broke the rules and we go up in their stead!
