If you polled the British people with the question "What harm have the Royal Family done to you personally?", there may not be too many with a true answer. Now ask the same question about convicts. There'll be many more personally affected by them. Victims of burglary, muggers, murderers, druggies, rapists, twoccers. But of course they are all poor and hopeless, so completely blameless in your eyes.

I pointed out that criminals by comparison cost the country a lot more. You then went on the defensive, saying they were blameless because they were 'poor and hopeless'. That's not a valid argument for how much they cost this country.
