My only concern is that he was never pacey .. with age he will have slowed even further .. he couldn't be played in a deep lying position as the way McCann like to play is having 3 in midfield so they all have to put the hard yards in .. he just isn't mobile enough to play in a system like this.

He was never fast in the pl, how many times did he get caught in possession, he’s one of very few players that looked like he could control the ball have a cuppa and pass it. He might have slowed but equally he’s not playing against pl players, first yards in his head.
    I think he’d be ok

Haven't seen him play recently but I'd guess he'd be too slow now. Always liable to concede free kicks in dangerous areas because he'd get done for pace.

While Huddlestone is undoubtedly a superb player, even at 34, I'm not sure whose place in the current formation he would take. I'm not sure he has the tackling rate to fulfil the Smallwood/Jones role. And he's definitely not a Honeyman/Docherty player.

Yep. We'd be better with the ball but much worse without it, and it would mess up what balance the midfield has.

I think if Huddlestone came in he would need the whole team formation changed and whilst the romantic in me would love to see his return, honestly we don’t need him.

Bit of a pointless debate, there's zero chance of us signing Huddlestone.

Toms ideal role now would probably be in the centre of a back three. Distributing the ball.
    Not gonna happen

He could do a job like Bostock did on us last week.

I’ve no idea, it would depend on Terry’s plan b

Agreed. Either that or as a sweeper.

Doesn't make sense to play him anywhere else now.

The plan B would be if Tom replaced Terry and became player manager. We can only dream.

I'd rather we snapped up Rosenior before Rooney gets sacked and replaces him.
