We used to have Yorkshire Pud without flour, milk, (pause), or eggs. Luxury. Or a pan wi' a knob of butter.
Try telling that to the Cordon Blue chefs; They'll not believe you.

You may know Kemps - there was some skuttlebut about Marmite being a little bit nasty for humans a while ago, We can't get it here in Toronto anymore (maybe even Canada) as a result of the fake news rumblings about it being bad for one's health. Probably can get it on the dark market - plenty of Brits over here.
Any truth in it, or has it been debunked? I love the stuff. Enhanced Bovril - always a favorite at B.P. in the Dark Ages. Cheese , onion & tomato on top of a generous layer of marmite on a slice of Closterbrot. Nowt to beat it with a carrot & celery stick.
Not forgetting the coupkle of beers or glasses of chardonnay.
Edit. I'm lying about the Chardonnay - make it half a bottle.

I've never heard that, tc. It's hard to see how it could be unhealthy as it's vegetarian.

Marmite on toast with a couple of real ales.

    Heaven.

Sorry Kemps, was a bit of a diatribe.. But yes, I've no idea either where the "scaremongering" came from. Probably US influence. Hope it's still available in the U.K.

There was a story about Canada and Denmark banning Marmite, but it seems it wasn't true and it's not banned anywhere.

It was an odd list of British things that were allegedly banned in Canada, it included Marmite, Irn-Bru, Penguin bars, Lucozade, Bovril and Ovaltine.

Truly bizarre. The 3 major supermarkets in Toronto and district are not stocking it anymore. I've checked a couple of the "boutique" foodstores on-line, and they're not carrying Marmite either. I presume they all took heed of the"ban" and as it probably wasn't a big seller decided to keep it off their stock list.
I just have to ask my remaining mates & family members to stash a couple of large jars in their luggage the next time travel becomes legal again between Europe and Canada.
At least the trade in British/European beer is still a going concern.:emoticon-0100-smile
