I might have to write to Wiki and get them to put those 4 championship seasons in....it would save me having to remind you, Wiz & RP of his achievements, I can just link it to you every time it's brought up <laugh><laugh><laugh>

Even I have a promotion from the District league to the Gloucester county league as as champions as an assistant manager, it's really not that difficult, one day he might get one, bless him.

Financial and structure between football and rugby are chalk and cheese Ashton. It Didn't take much to turn a troubled Bristol Rugby club into a top outfit. Different ball game regarding the zillions required to turn City into a top outfit. It's like comparing LJ to Messi as a player & Deano to Pepe as a coach :emoticon-0103-cool:
I realise that , I’m not suggesting we’ll turn into Man U, but appointing a strong manager like he did with the egg chasers may allow us to become more like Brentford or Burnley etc, continuing down the route of appointing yes men isn’t.

Agreed, but somebody at the club has to take responsibility for the more than 60 signings probably 60/70% of them sub standard, that is not a very good average and a total waste of money and still we keep doing it Brunt, Mariappa and I wouldn't be surprised if Lansbury isn't added to that list, these players do not come cheaply.

That is what is stopping any progress whatsoever, not lack of money, we have sold a similar amount of talent as Brentford but they sign quality and we sign mainly dross, if that doesn't change we will achieve nothing.

As I said somebody somewhere at our club is not doing his job in any way shape or form and that needs to be addressed.

I won’t judge Lansbury on one game just yet. I know a poster who done that once @Redprintt <laugh>

I'm not judging him, but I am saying that I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come off, he is another in the wilderness players for several seasons but was really good 3 or 4 years ago and they rarely if ever come good for us.

We have a long history of missing out great players and signing them in the twilight of their years, Shaun Taylor for instance was a hero for us but he was recommended to us before he signed for Exeter and we could have signed when left Exeter for Swindon and even before that Harry Dolman told then manager Fred Ford to sign Ernie Hunt and Mick Summerbee from Swindon and he would foot the bill, Fred dillied and dallied and they both went elsewhere, we eventually signed Ernie well into his 30's when he unfit with a huge beer belly and he managed 10 games before retiring.

Great idea, but dream on under Herr Lansdown

Will never forget the disallowed goal from a free kick by Willie Carr for Coventry when good old Ernie had the ball between his feet and jumped up, releasing the ball and Carr shot and scored <laugh>

And if anyone wants a laugh after yet another defeat, look at the comments I posted from unhappy Sunderland fans on the Lee Johnson And Leadership Skills thread after their defeat to Shrewsbury on Tuesday.

It was the other way around, Carr flicked it up for Ernie Hunt to fire in.

I thought that goal was allowed...Mind you my memory isn't what it used to be!! But remember the goal itself like it was yesterday!!

It was allowed but later outlawed in a law clarification, nicknamed the donkey kick, and featured on MOTD opening credits the season after.

But you are one of the supporters that accepts that LJ is in the past!! There are others on here that still dwell on that period in our history!!

I'm just surprised he got the Sunderland job at all and looking at their supporters comments coming out already, it's deja vu all over again from his time here.
I was never an LJ hater because of who his Father was either as a player or as Manager.
Having said that I didn't agree with his appointment here, but then again I didn't agree with Holden getting the job either.

Wonder if it was because Carr used two feet to take the free kick??
