My aunt dug into our background a while ago and surprised us all, seems centuries ago we were french, name of Joyeux, and came over to fight the welsh!
Then moved north.

None too chuffed about my frog roots but in light of our new owner I'm choosing (and inventing) to believe the Joyeuxes come from Marseille!

Thanks mate, that means a lot to me.

I don't know if it's an ageing thing, or the result of endless lockdowns, but something isn't right.

As we've been together so long, and we're so isolated, I feel quite alone.

Over the years nothing has bothered me, as I have so many mates at the games, but this virus has cut me off.

I hope things will resolve but who knows ...

... I know there are people worse off than me, but that's not really helping tbh.

Hang in there mate.
Tough times for everyone at the minute but hopefully it will turn soon.
You’ve got mates on here as well remember.

Thanks mate. She is back to sleep again. It's being moderate I would say. I would hate it to be given to my parents , put it that way.

Aye P, she should be right in a few days or so, but keep it to yourself if you can!
Mrs rowley had it and was pretty bad, including a visit to hospital, though they ended up saying it was " mild". It will pass though, hopefully she is up and elbowing you out the way of the chores, which is the stage I'm at now. We'll be older than yous as well so you'll be fine.
I've had it and no symptoms at all, so how that works I've no bloody idea but it's not to be under estimated.
Keep on keeping on mate.

Well bloody hell, what you can learn at 1.30am on a Sunday morning.....
Turns out my surname is a derivative of the viking "kjrr", or Kerr/Carr in southern Scotland/ Northern England.
I knew Carr was a derivative of Kerr, but never knew the longer history.

Bloody hell, that’s two of us then, my Dad’s Mam’s side were Carr from up that way.

Well actually it’s derived from someone who lived in or at a hall or manor house. That’s what Wiki says anyway. And for Smug it also says it’s one of the Middle March reiving families. I’m descended from criminals!
Fletcher derives from a make of arrows......the same as Bowman or Archer, good old English names

After reading these messages, I did a quick check. My surname is the type of dagger border reivers carried in the 16th century! Small world. :)

Crazy isn't it, the things you can find out after a good few pints on a Saturday! I've looked into my one a bit more, don't think the Moffat clan were particularly good. No mention of any rivalry with the Scott's, but it seems we were very much foe to the Johnstones. Then they murdered pretty much every notable Moffat by burning a building down and we lost all our land to them and ended up in debt. Bloody useless! So I'll be a bit distrusting of any Johnstones I meet from here on out!

It's the 24th Jan and we are still not any clearer on why this takeover is taking so long? Have we had any snippets @Magnus @Prehab26 @Wearsider. If we dont sign some creativity this window we are back to square league 1 imo

Takeover will happen. Not sure what people's obsession is with the Jan window. Takeover makes zero difference to it. Salary cap is reached. That's why the club are trying to get players out.

The new owner has deep pockets but that will help with the restructuring of the club to ensure we have the right environment for younger players to move into the first team. We can not buy our way out of the league in the Jan window.

Heard about any likelihood of losing Grigg, Graham and any others ? I know you’ve been playing Daddy Prehab so you may know more about chicken dinosaurs right now.

There is a beautiful little town called Moffat about 15 miles north of Lockerbie, probably your ancestral seat. It's worth a visit if you are ever up that way.

I'll be honest, I'd never really heard much about Reivers until I saw your name on the message boards. Googled it out of interest tonight and saw a lot of pages about border Reivers. Then found that my surname is from a clan associated with being border Reivers (well, my name is a very slightly different spelling, but the clan is the Moffat clan, although my spelling has one more T in it, and a lot of my relatives still live in the borders). Mad what you can find out on a random Saturday night on a message board! All my family are from Newcastle and Sunderland so I never really looked into it before.
I've just read that my surname Carlisle is on the list as well.

100%.

In addition we have lived too long making short term signings. Most signings to plug current gaps in January are short term. From my perspective we should only really be looking for loans now unless there are players that clearly both fill gaps and fit the long term plan. But those players are almost impossible to find in January.
