US hedge-funder Matthew Pauls is claiming millions from Sunderland owners after alleging club was ‘stolen’ from him.

Has this already been posted? Anybody know if there is any truth in it?

PS. Taken from the Sun newspaper so could be bollox.
Sounds like another Billy Storey type.

Couldn’t provide proof of funds for two months, when it arrived it was in another bloke’s name

I’m surprised ZZ Top hasn’t beaten him to it, to be honest.

It’ll come to nothing.

He's another Staveley, trying to use their 'football knowledge' to persuade wealthy people to fund their dreams.

"Those hating Jozy Altidore: u clearly don't know the game. Boys got a brain, a touch-knows the game. About the process gents."

Probably went something like this.....

"Hello Stewart, I'd like to buy Sunderland Association Football Club"
"Ok that's £38million please and I'd like to see your proof of funds"
"Ok, no problem, I'll give you 40 million"
Stewart Donald gets all excited
1 month later.....
"Hi Paul, I've still not seen your proof of funds"
"Paul, are you still there?"
"Paul....."
2 months later
Stewart - "Oh bugger, we'd better accept that kids offer then as Paul has disappeared on us"
"Hi Stewart, it's Paul, just sent you my proof of funds. It's not in my name and it's in Indian Rupees, but I'm sure I'll be able to get my hands on it"

Stewart - "Kyril, welcome to Sunderland.......

A remember he was in the crowd it was a bank holiday Monday game on sky , quinny's only points as a manager
Yes, your correct, it was against West Brom we won 2-0 and Kevin Phillips played that day for them after turning us down earlier in the week. Another thing that sticks in my mind is when reading Roy Keane's book he insists that the crowd was around 16K that day, I have looked on statcat and it was clearly over 24K, I know it would have been ghost written but you would think they would check their facts.
