If I remember rightly, they were raided by HMRC with arrests made at the time. For that to have happened they must've had enough information prior to the raid to suggest some criminal activity/fraud/evasion. I'd be surprised if they were just chasing down tax/interest/penalties. They're being so evasive as they must have something much worse to hide than what can currently be proven. Just my thoughts on it though.
My Mam & Dad moved to Stoke with the pits in the 60's. Luckily there were loads of families from the NE in our street and we all supported the Lads. My first Sunderland match was at Stoke in the 70s when my Dad took me aged around 8. I remember being absolutely freezing by half time and my Dad buying 2 hot pies for me to warm hands and feet with . It didn't work too well and left before the end missing the lads winning goal (always been unlucky). After I'd left school me and my mates went to every match we could (every match is an away match living in Stoke). I am and always will be a MLF so hopefully it'll soon be time for some good luck for a change. Keep the Faith
Agreed. He's had an agenda against both the current lot and Short. I'm sure he had links to a previous takeover bid a few years, which makes me sceptical when he comes out with stuff. I get the feeling he'd have an agenda against the next lot, unless it was someone he approved of.
The american FPP company still exists. Or they could buy Madrox shares or set up a new company in a day.
Exactly this. The mags copped the vast bulk of the investigation and the majority of the investigators involved in the raids raided the mags. 180 tax inspectors involved in a raid wouldn't happen if they didn't think there was something serious. Only going on what little I've been told, but we're talking major tax fraud investigation, involving hundreds of millions, and some suggestions of other actions being looked at.
Or is it just the echo adding a little bit more to fill column inches at the minute it is hard to know what exactly is going on i just hope that the end game is beneficial for us to move forward w
Ive been looking at this Joey Saputo some lad mentioned over the road, His company opened up offices in Uruguay in 2018, they could have links with Sartoris Union Group, both companies are similar making money from the natural landscape - could be something in this?
https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...nvestor-over-partial-takeover-reports-3014643 I think The Echo clearly has more information as they are now saying its 'a partial takeover'.
They are just quoting the express. It’s a rehash of the express and Rodwell’s podcast and says nowt really.
Partial takeover is exactly what I've been told for a few weeks now so the fact the papers have been told a few bits suggests we should hear about it soon.
Next week most likely. End of next week. As I said, not the clean slate we wanted and for me, the lowest % Donald keeps the better it is for us
I’ve said this many times..... but The Sunderland Echo has to be worst regional paper to cover its football team. They have the nerve to charge for use of the paper on the internet. I would pay in a heartbeat if it was up to date and meaningful reporting but it’s normally out of date crap
I'm not bothered who the minority owners will be, if Donald and Methven are still involved I don't really care. All I'm interested in is having an owner with a plan for the future, plenty of money to put it into place and lift the club up from off its knees.
This term 'a partial takeover' is new to me. If a buyer takes control it's a takeover. If Donald remains in control it's not. Most people accept Donald wants to cling onto shares but I believe that's for future profit, not control. He's been in total control and is no futher forward. He's lost money, momentum and support ... ... only a takeover would change that situation imo.
Yeah, seems to be some confusion from the reporters. So to clear it up for them, someone can take over the club without owning it 100%. What they mean is Donald and co. Look like they are staying with less of a stake in the club. Do takeovers not go this way quite a bit, the new owners take what they can get to control the club and then slowly buy more and more, when it's available?
