Is she ill enough to merit a trip to A&E? I assume they are still testing people who are genuinely sick who turn up at hospital, though I know it will be an unpleasant experience.

    What a ****ing farce.

Still waiting mate.....I didn’t get tested as I haven’t got any symptoms. Just Twin 2 who is feeling ok now. It’s just causing needless disruption, imho

Honestly Col, I could be absolutely and totally wrong about it all and this could be the coming of the end if civilisation as we know it (that was just for dramatic effect). However I just can’t get stressed and concerned about it as we are right now.
However I will follow the rules that are being set (mostly), out of respect for those that are more concerned.

I know Strolls will disagree, but speaking to friends it seems to me that when you're over 55 and hear too many anicdotes like Steel's missus, you tend to want to be a bit careful, just in case.
Seems pretty clear that the under 40s aren't anywhere near as concerned on the whole.
I guess the next few weeks may well be decisive.

Fair play mate......but honestly my group of good mates from BA are all over 55....and none have got the slightest concern whatsoever.

Understandable - until you factor in the thousands of people suffering long-term effects. We may have killed off the weak and vulnerable, but Mrs Steelmonkey is early 40s (don't do the maths, yes she's a lot younger than me....), was fit, healthy, never suffered from colds, had an active life and now can hardly climb the stairs without her heart rate zooming up over 140 and with ectopic beats, feeling dizzy and nauseated.

Mate I don’t wanna talk about your Mrs personally as i respect you like you wouldn’t believe and don’t want it to get too emotive.
    I seriously hope she recovers.
    Much love to you both

But it's exactly these kind of stories that make some of us so wary mate.
These health problems for otherwise healthy people are at the heart of the issue for me.

But of course there could be other factors to be taken into consideration. Eg underlying but unknown health conditions, social conditions, general health, etc. No one case of a ‘healthy’ individual will be the same as the next....and shouldn’t all be labelled as such.

Good luck to her Steels. Is she getting medical help? The non-medical/professional help I've heard is to frequently sip warm water, to in effect wash it out of your body. I don't know quite how that could work with a bad infection, but it probably doesn't do any harm.

The GP has been great, but they've no clue how to treat this, or how long it may last. The only thing they are certain of is that it's COVID related. Advised to take plenty of fluids, vitamins, food supplements and rest - which does help.

Its bizarre to say the least mate. They sound more like neurological symptoms, very similar to my wife's. Wishing you all the best
