Watch out, Billy - in your reply to me you said that everyone was entitled to a view and then you say that in another reply. SLS wasn't necessarily having a go at you - I think he makes a fair point, as I know people who seem to have stats of various sports at their fingertips and yet couldn't be bothered to investigate for themselves the truth behind the Referendum and have accused me of being "a traitor" (the worst) to "Chicken Licken" or a "Doommonger" (probably the best) because of my views.
The sad thing is that it's taken this (when, to be honest, the issue of the EU was of little importance more than 5 years ago) to completely divide the country, open it up to racists who know feel free to wave nazi-style flags and do the Hitler salute in public, plus rough up anyone who dares say anything against them and, in my view, completely **** it up for the next generation.
Sad that so many people couldn't be bothered (not having a go at you) to vote on what was most probably the biggest event to ever happen politically to this country because "it'll all be ok" - it' ALWAYS the extremists who vote and not the moderates who just sit back and let life go on until it's too late.
I guess, as you don't vote, you can't really complain about any outcome (which is what I'll say to anyone who doesn't vote - my Dad taught me that the right to vote was the greatest civil liberty anyone can have and to not take that option, is, quite frankly, staggering - but that's something between you and your conscience)

My own view is that 99% of people just want a fair and decent society with as little hardship as possible, a safety net for people in real difficulty and a decent health service, plus people who pay their fair bit in taxes to pay for it. Sadly, this is not the situation we're now in and it can only get worse before it gets better

Godders said at the end of his post “if you ask me”. I started my post with “no one did”, but never said he wasn’t entitled to it - think I’m being pretty consistent.

And also, I’m not complaining about any outcome, I’m just getting sick of people on here telling others what they should be thinking and doing, whilst complaining that the Gov and media are doing the same. Honestly I cant be arsed, as the amount of double standards when people discuss politics doesn’t really create value in my life. I think this generates unnecessary noise around an important topic, and I dont think either side of the vote really listens to the other side to understand, and have a more nuanced discussion about it. Mankind has always struggled with this concept forever, and perhaps it will always be the case.

I also think there may be a re-think into the whole Eu Union approach, i think a number of countries are seeing just how it all ends up for the UK before deciding for themselves.

As for your last sentence Dave, people always have a personal, vested interest and apply the rules that effect their will the most.

I seem to be a little late arriving to this party.
Can we produce our own products? Not in the quantities required, and given our climate how do you suggest growing oranges and lemons, tomatoes etc throughout our winter, again in the quantities required? We couldn’t even do that in the summer. Then of course there is the need for migrant workers to do the picking. Spain relies heavily on Eastern European and North African cheap labour. We have effectively shut that door with Brexit.
I don’t understand your first sentence, but my own experience of Lidl products is that the quality is generally very good and they are often produced by the same companies that produce brand name products, and products for the “quality” supermarkets.
Regarding the sourcing of fresh meat, there aren’t that many suppliers, so the supermarket companies are pretty much being supplied by the same people.
Most of Lidl’s fresh chicken is imported from Ireland (as is some other supermarkets) so that could be an issue in the future, if there are delivery delays, because the Southampton depot doesn’t have the space to stock excess products. On average, to supply approximately 50 stores, the depot receives between 60&70 wooden pallets of fresh chicken daily, (average 32 cases per pallet) on a “just in time” delivery cycle, with the majority of that stock being picked and sent out within 24 hours, 7 days a week. And Lidl is 6th (?) highest turnover of the main supermarkets. I would guess that this just in time system is used by all supermarkets, so any border delays will equal empty shelves.
I don’t know what Lidl and Aldi have done to prepare for the future, but they are the two supermarkets who could suffer the most from Brexit, simply because they import so much stock from the EU.
Lidl have so many deliveries,(fresh food and ambient) everyday from Germany, that border delays could decimate the stock levels, so they may have to invest in holding depots, which would add to their costs, which would push up prices in the shops, losing them the edge they have on the big 4. I guess Aldi would suffer the same.
On another note, it’s not just about supplies to the shops but also about getting supplies to manufacturers who produce food products in this country using produce grown abroad.

Two cops shot in Compton, America, at close range.

Then black lives matter protestors blocked them from getting to hospital chanting 'we hope they die'.

This is what I was saying, the other week. Whilst I would never deny racism is a big issue, the extreme left wing systemic racism narrative that the Democrats seem to be stoking up has its own set of consequences too.

It's really awful when people are so politicised that they are cheering each others murders. These are human beings. Both Trump/Republicans and Biden/Democrats should be ashamed for letting tensions build up so much IMO. They are both using the racism angle to further their own agendas.

I find it hard to believe these kinds of things are happening in modern day America.

    This is a lie.

No one blocked them from getting to the hospital. No one blocked emergency vehicles of any sort. There is video, it was less than 10 idiots standing on the sidewalk. It's also very much unclear that these were "Black Lives Matter protesters"...judging by the flags, there's a decent chance they were Hoteps. Hoteps are wild, and they aren't BLM.

The police is currently using a version of events unsupported by facts because immediately thereafter, they beat up and arrested a female reporter. They lied about that, too.

    From the reporter:

    Whole thread here:

And video from another reporter of them throwing the above reporter around like a rag doll for doing her job: Note that they claimed that she never identified herself as a reporter at the time: she is literally repeating "I'm with KPCC" (local NPR station) over and over.

At some point, are you going to perhaps question the version of events being fed by the police? They lie. Over and over and over, they lie. They lie when there is video of their lies. Because they want to do whatever they want to do, and will say whatever is necessary to give themselves cover to do so. The only institution the police in the United States regularly protect and serve is themselves.

It's also worth noting that the police department involved has been at the center of a bit of controversy, after multiple deputies alleged that many of their coworkers operate as a literal gang, calling themselves the Compton Executioners.

Now even Cameron condemning the government's intended action. By my calculations the only living PM not to do so is Gordon Brown, and I think that we can be pretty sure what his thoughts are.

    Brown did, last week.

Let us not forget that this was Johnson's very own agreement which he signed and declared was oven ready.

How does he find the time to have another mistress? Tiger Woods got far more negatives press for his indiscretions than Johnson ever gets. Perhaps papers in Germany, France and Spain will reveal more than our neutered press and media.

As SLS says, he did last week.
He has also been putting forward suggestions for the government, to help protect the finances of so many people who are going to be dumped into dire financial hardship, once furlough ends at the end of October.
Worth noting that many of the EU countries are extending their version of furlough into next year, and also worth remembering that most G20 countries implemented Gordon Brown’s recovery plan, post global recession, so obviously the Tories will ignore him.

There is a video, of someone casually walking up to a police car and shooting into it.

This is a direct symptom of blaming and politisicing the whole police force in the manner that you guys are.

The correct answer is stop stoking up so much emotion in people, carry out full and thorough investigations into what is wrong with the police forces and arrest/charge the bad apples. This can be done. The police are necessary in any society, and demonising them completely to this extent is ridiculous.

Instead, we have had the Democratic party jumping on the 'all police are evil' bandwagon for political gain, and its making everyhing even worse. No matter how corrupt the police force is, the words of the media and politicians are causing cops to be shot in Broad daylight, just for being cops. You have to stand back and admit that there is something very wrong in how you are conducting yourself if you feel that that is in any way normal/good.

Whilst you may have a point regarding the US Democratic party, shouldn't your anger and most severe criticism be directed towards the perpetrator of all this, Trump????

Oh it is. He has done all he can to cause as much division as possible. I just don't see anyone on here mentioning the other side are also causing as much division as possible as well.
