He has history with dissing teammates. He was plotting against Benny years back, hinting at a bad attitude and trying to push himself forward. You can imagine the negative effect he has on a dressing room. He has a nasty, deluded streak in him, I'm afraid.
It was around the summer of 2014 if I recall and surfaced on a US pre-season tour. Unprofessional at best, nasty and premeditated at worst. Either way, just trying to undermine a colleague. Not a good look.
As rose was walking away and JM told him to open his heart lol he wanted to antagonize him abit whilst staying as the good guy.
Yeh you'd have thought he was ten years old and in a sweet shop and his mum wouldn't let him have a couple of mars bars
So having watched them all so far the one thing that really stands out is...that it’s true...when it comes to football, Levy really is a clueless ****
I remember that, think it was one or two years earlier than 2014 though as that was around the time AVB had seemingly shafted Benny from the team but Rose was definitely throwing a bitch fit at the fact he couldn’t dislodge him. Benny was quality, such a complete full back, best LB we’ve had in the Prem.
Fully agree on Benny, and I still think AVB was a pratt the way he lost us a great player who was never run of the mill, held unorthodox views and played with the intelligence and spontaneity that was obvious from his interviews. Rose was not even close in my view, yes he was combative, yes he was quick (for a while) but one outstanding season was not enough to convince me of his value. Davies has always been a better option IMO and whenever he has had a decent run of games has just got better (Injuries apart). Hopefully Sessignon will grow into this role.
BAE by some accounts also allowed himself to become infected with the A******r pathogen (which would have made redemption with AVB even harder) .
I hate AVB. He was an absolute virus to this football club. Benny for me was just such a complete full back, composed defensively and ran the wing efficiently, he didn’t really have a glaring weakness. I’ll give Rose his due in that from roughly 2014-2017 he was excellent under Poch and then it was in 2017 where he gave that interview and subsequently became more or less a liability (again) there on out. Davies is definitely more defensively sound than Rose but Rose in those years under Poch was a very, very good wingback in my opinion, though considering Rose has been here for 14 years and only delivered 3 good seasons it’s crazy he’s lasted this long.
Davies was the reason Rose played like he had something to lose - because he did, as if his form dropped or he started acting like a twat, Davies was there to step in A similar argument can be said about Trippier doing similar for Walker - but not for Aurier (or vice versa) which is where the rot set in
Having watched the latest 3, I bet Rose was an absolute tiger in the dressing room when he was on top form, dream teammate. But when he wasn’t first choice before and not playing well now, he comes across as an entitled ****er. Get your own house in order before calling others out. Seeing Hugo behind the scenes makes me think we’ve been a bit unfair to him over the years, he clearly is a voice in the dressing room and we could see that he was on the pitch too in the latter part of the season. One thing that’s struck me so far is the atmosphere in the dressing room during games. Lots of heads down and nobody seems to make eye contact at half time especially if it’s not going well. Jose keeps saying it’s all in the mentality, all in the head, and with this group it’s so right. Poch took us so far but with this squad (or at least how we’re seeing them in the doc, it might not always have been this way) it’s no surprise we didn’t get over the line. Jose must have known he had his work cut out to turn that mentality around after a week in the dressing room. Also really enjoyed seeing the chat with Eriksen, Levy and Mourinho. Really interesting insight into how that situation played out, especially as all three so clearly had different agendas.
I do think the Champions League final mentally broke Poch, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the team had the same issue You could certainly see the change in Poch's demeanor even during the summer as instead of batting away hack questions like he usually did he was giving them curt responses and he got more antagonistic when our form nosedived as the season went on, and the way he was trying to brute force a solution to our form also wasn't like how he approached the team in the first few seasons It's telling that the squad weren't mentally broken after the 2015-16 season, in fact mounted a more solid title challenge in 2016-17 that came up short because Chelsea were basically The Terminator in the second half of that season, and there were a hell of a lot of dropped heads even at the start of last season and not all of them could be explained in the way in which Eriksen's has been all but confirmed
It says a lot that Stan Bollomore and Gabby Agbonlahor both saw Danny Rose's hissy fit and have both said they're on his side Is there something they put in the water at Villa Park to make their ex-players a particular kind of thick?
