Biggest thing I’ve picked up so far is that I can absolutely see why Jose targeted leaders in the transfer market as we don’t really have any. I find that really odd that leadership wouldn’t be at the forefront of any manager’s planning. Kane trying to be a leader seems like an effort not natural.

Another thing I picked up...Dele is a stroller...it carries onto match days...not good enough.

I can see it too. I disagree with the Kane assessment - he’s clearly a leader but like they say in as many words: a silent one, by nature. Speaking to the group doesn’t come naturally to him, he leads by example (and by all accounts there is no better example, to be fair). So I can see why Jose wants more voices in the dressing room to augment Kane’s.

Dele was strolling and it’ll be interesting to see if that continues throughout the season. If preseason is anything to go by he’s picking it up now though.

Yeah I think that’s why Hojbjerg and Hart were targeted as they seem to be more vocal in their leadership, Kane is indeed a silent leader as Jose says albeit looks like he enjoys a pre-match gee up. I think Lloris would probably come under that too although the show so far doesn’t really show much of him.

As for Dele, not gonna say too much on pre-season form at the moment as he should be looking good against that sort of opposition. Huge season ahead for him, another inconsistent one and he needs binning because as someone said in the show, can’t remember if it was coaching staff or from a podcast, he’s looking like one of those players that peaked at 21/22. Be interesting to see if he even makes Jose’s first XI when everyone’s fit.

Dele is a very special talent, the kind you only see rarely in football. The opposite, say of Lucas who is talented and hard working and very predictable. We know he will run at players and use his speed and agility to get around them. Dele is unpredictable you never quite know what he will do and that often means he loses the ball, but it also means that he creates or scores goals that very few, if any, other players would. It's not surprising that Alex Ferguson earmarked him as a target for United. Coming with that is the personality that can also be unpredictable. He is the one player at Spurs who is completely irreplaceable and if that means you only get 10 games a season from him then we are better off with them than without him. Many special talents come with issues, there are a list of footballers who fit into that catergory. George Best, Gazza, Stan Bowles, and most famously of all Maradona. None would give you an easy ride but all could produce the unexpected.
The game of football can be the most exciting sport in the world but it can also produce very boring games. To have a player who can produce the unexpected is always good in a game where the majority just run up and down and pass it in the usual manner. Like the reliable Mr. Winks? :emoticon-0142-happy

Special talents are pointless if they don’t indeed use their special talent on a regular basis. Two great seasons followed by three inconsistent ones, it’s not good enough.

If we as a club want to progress we need consistently good players. Not inconsistent special talents or players like captain crab. Ndombele’s another special talent, all pointless if it can’t actually be put to good use enough.

Why did Jose react the way he did when he found out sissoko was influential around the squad. What's the back story? Lol

From a playing perspective it's reasonable to say he's a fair way down the list from being our best so it likely took Jose by surprise that he held such influence.

He's also the fourth oldest at the club and second oldest outfield player so likely holds that elder influence around the place, plus he's been known to be quite an older brother figure to some of the guys that arrived from Ligue 1, especially Ndombele.

Whens the next ones out? Been good so far.

    my observations...
Dele seems to lack a bit of confidence maybe not in his ability but he comes across as a bit weak in his character, easily shaken kinda thing, I wasn't expecting that of him tbh as I always thought he'd be a bit more of a louder bullish kinda guy around the training pitch but he seems a bit introvert.

Jose... like him or not, personally he would be great to play under, tells you how it is but let's you know he's got your back as long as you give him all your effort. I could work under those conditions.. But then I can see how some delicate flowers would crumble under his straight talking tounge. some funny moments like the TV thing too.

Looking forward to the rest, it's deffo not the car crash I was hoping for <laugh>

I completely get why he would be influential 50+caps for France been in the prem for years. I was surprised by Jose saying F**k like it was a bad thing. I assumed he was a negative influence based of Jose's reaction or something along those lines

Three each week I think mate, 7th Sept then 14th.

Yeah I did initially think it'd give you lot ammo but other than the title banter of "it's nothing... etc" there ain't been much to have a go at so far, been a decent watch. 6 episodes to change though I guess <laugh>

Yeh some people have a certain pinach when threatening to kill people. Harry ain't the one<laugh>

Fair play to him for stepping up and trying though as it's clearly not too comfortable for him but it seems a very quiet dressing room from what I've seen so far at least so at least he sees that and takes responsibility :emoticon-0148-yes:

Always questioned mentality and minerals...it wasn’t made up as can be seen now. Dele’s attitude has also been questioned, rightly so it seems. Poch wasn’t ruthless enough to get us over the line is my feeling...I mean after having Dele for 5 years he couldn’t get him to become professional enough to work his bollocks off In training, why? Too scared to offend and lose favour with a handful? Mental weaknesses oozing out of the club.

You won’t reach your potential if you’re not training hard...it’s as simple as that.

Players have the following traits :

    1. Putting in consistently good performances

    2. Being able to read the game as it is playing out.

    3. Act as a rallying/calming influence as the state of play changes

#1 means that when your team-mate gives you the verbal about poor performance,
you cannot engage in "whatabout-ism" on them.

#2 means that when they tell you to do this, change that, you do so
out of respect for their proven reading of the game

#3 is by example (the worldy shot/save/tackle, putting yourself on he line
to make that shot/save/tackle, fronting up when the opponents go full thug etc) .

IMHO team "leaders" repeatedly demonstrate some of the above.
Team captains are those have the most/best of the above when compared
to everyone else in the squad.

Jose is much calmer than I imagined he would be - The half times they have shown so far have been very composed, he is clearly angry in some of them, but he keeps a lid on it very well, and gives clear instructions and offers almost completely positives messages and its all focused on what we have to do.

I have think its a fascinating insight into the club as a whole, but particularly into Jose's methods

Yeah I think this is what is likely drawing in a lot of non-Spurs fans to watch, Jose is absolute box office, whether you like him or loathe him, he's must see TV.

Amazon are probably loving the fact we hired him as it'll have boosted the doc's viewings tenfold.

I was surprised how much I liked him as a pundit qhen he was doing stuff for sky...very interesting and gave honest rather than political opinions when asked about a player or manager but wasn't rude about them.
