Mike Ashley's going into the gym business, he's just bid £30m for the DW Fitness First group gyms.

Debenhams have now brought in Hilco, who they describe as 'turnaround specialists', but they're actually more accurately described as liquidation specialists.
I hope this works out... a pal of mine has a hair salon and company office in a DW unit in Leeds. They were given 72 hours notice to get out by the administrators. Cost of the vans to strip the unit, had to leave air conditioning he'd paid for behind. He's trying to accommodate the staff in the other 2 salons he owns, but he's likely going to have to make them redundant unless this deal happens and he can get back in...

Another city centre building (Lowgate) being converted into fats...

Old town does seem to be having a resurgence of some sort on the leisure front, with this, the old Barracuda bar being done up, old Britannia bank on Whitefriargate now a bar, and change of use gone in to extend the old Telstar into the next along empty unit on Whitefriargate, I think a chain bar/club could potentially be moving in there. The old 1884 is having work done on it too. Interesting, and actually quite positive times...

I read somewhere that the old 1884 building has been taken by Beverley's Ogino restaurant.
