It's not the crime I'm talking about, which is totally obvious ...

... it's the accusation, but you knew that.

Just typical deflection from someone who doesi whnges about it.

It's not deflection. I'm pointing out that the two crimes falsely accused of in your analogy are of different levels, therefore falsely accusing them of them is different too.

'It's like falsely accusing someone of parking in a disabled bay' would be equally ludicrous. But you specifically said it's like falsely accusing someone of rape. That's what I responded to.

And there it is, the totally predictable descent into grammatical nuance to avoid the point.

You're absolutely hopeless at debate, 'lash out' or 'smokescreen' are your only two settings ...

... the reason you never manage to get your own points across.

Hopeless ...

What are you talking about? You posted that it was the same as falsely accusing someone of rape. I said it isn't. You asked for more. I gave it to you. We still disagree.

The end.

Irrespective of the cause, it's truly pathetic ...

... the fact it's to honour an American criminal is quite embarrassing.

It takes no courage to follow the sheep, but someone will have the courage to refuse.
I asked this question about a week age regards which footballer would have the balls to refuse this objectionable tribute.
so far none have wandered from the flock. Not surprised.

Didn’t Mercedes, like most German companies at the time, employ slaves for the Nazi war effort ? Now it’s ok to take their money?

Sponsored by Hugo Boss, no less.

However, I don't hold anyone currently alive responsible for things that happened 80 years ago. Erasing history will mean that we forget about it, though, and it will happen again. We're already seeing it.

Exactly, you can only live in the time and place into which you were born ...

... in reality there were a dozen Nazi maniacs who terrified and manipulated their own people.

English slave traders also exploited the poor white people, who actually suffered because of the slaves taking their work.

Why on earth would the English working class bear any responsibility?

I’m a big fan of Lewis, and of any sportsman who is a master of his craft.

Lewis has been involved in anti racism campaigns throughout his career, he’s always been a big character with opinions and with a desire to help in the world, he’s backed many campaigns around hunger, around racism and around any amount of things.

There’s no bandwagon with Lewis, just a supremely talented fella who wants to use his voice and reach for good, I can’t do anything other than applaud him for that personally.

Look forward to him matching Schumacher’s 7 titles this season.

As a driver Hamilton is one of the two best ever in my view. A lot gets made of having the best car but he's won a couple of those titles when having a disadvantage with his car compared to his rivals.

That out of the way... he is outspoken with his views and I respect the fact that he puts his voice forward for what he believes in. As a prominent black driver in a mostly white sport I've little doubt he will have suffered from racism at times and has worked hard to get to where he is. I do think he overplays his hand a touch though, his father made big sacrifices to give him opportunity (he quit his job to support him) and instead of ever seemingly acknowledging some of this (from what I hear him say) he instead refers to growing up in slums (Stevenage...) and pays no tax to the UK. I just find him hard to respect due to that.

That said he's right to call out issues where he sees them and I back his right to do so, he has been consistent with his message and has been willing to retract mistakes he's made in the past (nephew in a dress saga!) so i assume he's just looking for others to do the same. It's ok to make mistakes so long as you own them and improve.
