One of the most privileged people in the world. I sincerely hope he is putting his money where his mouth is and taking the tax he saves living in Monaco and investing it in the cause he is hitting everyone over the head with.
What really gets to me is that people like him, Sterling, Rose, etc, keep making these 'brave' pronouncements about racism in their sports. Surely, if they've seen racism and feel so strongly, they should point it out and name names ... but they don't, they just lump everyone is by saying that its systemic and people are complicit by not trumpeting 'the cause'. Sterling, despite being 100% certain of this racism, just waffles on about 'barriers'. Hamilton accuses people of racism then hypocritically backtracks and says, "I'm not accusing the drivers specifically, but rather the industry at large." Robbie Earle cries on TV, says he's been subject to blatant racism, but once again won't point the finger. Come on lads, get a grip and stop waffling. What's the point of having these 'discussions' that you keep asking for if you never actually say anything or get to the point ... ... otherwise people will just start to think that you're crying wolf. If millionaires at the top don't have the moral courage to accuse people of the racism that they know they've seen, what message does that send to an underprivileged black kid who wants to speak out.
Always thought Hamilton was a bit of a tit, good driver in the best car but still a tit. Getting sick to the back teeth hearing about these disenfranchised black people who have chips on their shoulders the size of the rock of Gibraltar, as Smug says either put up or shut up ffs. Time we all got back to talking about Brexit.
So as the lights turn green, they all clamber out onto the tarmac to take the knee. Now I'm no health and safety exec, but I don't think they should do that.......although the restart would be hilarious!
Not Brexit, I am a bit of a news junkie and liked to listen to the Today programme as I woke up...but endless boring boring Brexit ups and downs, meant for a few years i never switched it on. It is like our 'takeover' it is interminable! I have just started tuning in...so ffs not the 'B' word..
Saying people are racists is a bloody serious accusation. Saying you know who they are but not naming them is cowardly. Saying you know who they are when you don't is shameful ... ... it's like falsely accusing someone of rape.
I’m a big fan of Lewis, and of any sportsman who is a master of his craft. Lewis has been involved in anti racism campaigns throughout his career, he’s always been a big character with opinions and with a desire to help in the world, he’s backed many campaigns around hunger, around racism and around any amount of things. There’s no bandwagon with Lewis, just a supremely talented fella who wants to use his voice and reach for good, I can’t do anything other than applaud him for that personally. Look forward to him matching Schumacher’s 7 titles this season.
My only problem is that he believes other people, in his profession, need him to educate them. He could do with a little education on how not to be condescending.
Racism is not the same as rape. The two crimes are not equal, therefore saying that you know someone holds views you disagree with is not the same as accusing someone of a physically violent crime. Simple.
I also support LeClerc saying what he has and choosing not to kneel. I don't feel anyone should be forced by their employer to take a political or social standpoint they disagree with.
Yeah I kind of get that mate. You can take a few of those seats out for drivers who ‘bring money’, like Stroll at Racing Point. The reality is there’s about 10 seats for ‘ability’ so a minority group is going to struggle for a seat, it’s the behind the scenes that they are looking at though, a real lack of race engineers etc. Whether F1 are responsible if there’s a simple lack of ethnic background qualified folk is the question. There’s wonderful diversity in the locations and staging of the sport, the open sponsorship agreements etc, it’s maybe something I need to read into.
Couldn’t agree more. Equality also means maintaining free will. I don’t believe for a second Charles doesn’t support the need for change, he is an incredibly level headed and intelligent young fella.
It's not the crime I'm talking about, which is totally obvious ... ... it's the accusation, but you knew that. Just typical deflection from someone who whinges about it.
