To address the question, yesterday worried me, and we need to see a reaction Vs Everton, from the players and Farke.BUMP !
Southampton have had similar prep time to us, but looked like they'd never been away. We looked sluggish and couldn't string 4-5 passes together. A performance littered with mistakes from nearly every player. It does beg the question as to what they've been up to at Colney.
And in terms of Farke, that 4-4-2 formation made no sense, never worked, and he didn't do anything to correct it. It may have looked good in training, but after an hour of failing to keep possession or create anything of note, it had to be changed. But it wasn't, we kept the same formation and tweaked the personnel to be more attacking. Which unsurprisingly had no impact because there was no platform from which to build attacks. So that worried me, a repeat of those tactics against Everton would really worry me.

I know it’s a bit of a joke, but no managers job is completely safe.
Farke’s still got my support and will do to the end of the season, but he’s going to have to find another way to play in the Premier League if he gets us promoted again, because this really isn’t working.
I like the good football, but there needs to be more defensively.

Dave I do not ‘hate’ her that’s too strong a word. To be honest I don’t really care anymore I’m starting to fall out of love with the game, it’s changed out of all recognition since I started watching Football 50 years ago and not for the better.
I suppose I will be lambasted for hating the vomiting inducing, virtual signalling, ‘taking the knee’ bollocks we’ve been witnessing before games this week too.
We’re all equal, all lives matter and if you ask me all this BLM stuff is doing is creating further divisions

I have to say Rich that it appears to me that your biggest problem with her is that she doesn't have enough money to plough into the the club to keep us up with the Joneses.
I call that a pretty poor show!
Trouble is the tactics are working, at times, when the players can execute them i.e. the Man City game, there's just no consistency. Not surprising for an inexperienced squad. I don't know, but I suspect that of all the teams in the PL we are probably the team that has conceded most from unforced mistakes, which is something you get particularly with younger players. For me the real test of the club is not whether we go down or not, but how many of our young players we retain if we do and if we can bounce back. Early on in the season our young players were on a high, having feasted on the confidence that a promotion season brings, but that confidence has been eroded over the season for a variety of reasons, some of which are outside of the clubs / Farke's control. I think even the most experienced managers in the game would have struggled with the hand Farke was dealt at the start of the season and that's before our injury issues. Farke is still young and developing as a manager and in my view does make mistakes, but despite our performances he seems to retain the confidence of the squad. Farke appears very calculating and patient with players, but I do wonder if one of the things he lacks a galvanising passion in others (For me he is more a head coach than a traditional manager). That's something I think a player like Hanley brings to the game, not only is he passionate, but he appears to be able to bring in the passion in those around him. The only other player that does that for the team generally is Krul (& the only one on the pitch on Friday). Interesting they're both experienced players 's who've been around the block a bit.
One of the problems with all fans is we have a lot less information than the decision makers at the club and therefore whilst our views often seem sound with the information we have, often with the added advantage of hindsight, they might not be realistic. Classic from Friday was why wasn't Tettey used. Lots of reasons I can think of just from the information that is available, but more importantly what if the information Farke had was that he wasn't fit enough to play a full game or carrying a minor injury. I don't know but from how Farke setup I suspect Farke's tactic was hit them hard early on, get a goal or 2 and then maybe go more defensive. We didn't get the early goal, despite having chances and as soon as we went behind it was always going to be difficult. For me I think Farke should have made changes at half time.
I think the club are trying to play the long game and I'd rather go down with our finances than Villa's. For me there's no doubt that the depth of quality at the club has increased considerably under Webber's / Farke's reign, which is incredible when you factor in that the incredible improvement in our financial position.
So for me next season will be Farke's defining season. Can he continue to bring on young players whilst getting us promoted. Can he continue to develop as coach. Should we be in the PL in the 21/22 season, Can he keep us up ? Obviously if by some miracle he keeps us up, can he continue to develop the team.
I disagree that we didn't create anything of note we did. Pukki in particular had a great chance, which I think earlier in the season he would have converted. There were other chances and we broke their back line several time but failed to turn this into chances, mainly I think because they were fitter / more motivated than us. However I do agree with the overall sentiment of your post and I would have prefered if we'd started with our normal formation 4-2-3-1.
If anything, I'd say the game itself has got more beautiful compared to 60 years ago
The real trouble is that we have failed to adapt our tactics to the EPL, despite having it demonstrated game after game that we aren't good enough to have Farkeball work for us in this league, unlike in the Championship. The few successes we've enjoyed, e.g. Man City, have actually been when tactical change has been forced on DF. Right from the start DF has maintained the team has been built to play a certain way, there's no alternative. But the Man City game showed that it's simply not true. Against Man City we surrendered possession from the start, defended deep, and then broke through the Man City high press with swift skilful short passing up the flanks, with a final pass releasing Pukki against exposed CBs. The aspects of Farkeball that we all love -- the intricate short passing, nimble footwork, positional interchange, etc. etc. -- are constants whether the tactics are aimed at controlling the game through possession, or counter-attacking. To build a squad good enough to compete at this level playing Farkeball, we needed to stay in this league; IMO we have squandered the chance through what looks like sheer stubbornness.
You hit many nails on the head, Canario. For me, the biggest miss was Tettey as the Saints moved down the field at will and won most of the second balls. Tettey also brings the passion needed like Handley and Krul and it was certainly missing in our midfield in particular. Passion and commitment seem to be lacking in many of our other players, who are all good technically, but often lack the fight to change games once we go behind. The second half was abysmal as we went through the motions but posed little threat to a street wise Saints team.
So we revisit this thread once again.

Notwithstanding the results all eight without exception (well possibly the Manure cup tie), have also seen no passion, no fight and no desire.
Absolutely disgraceful and embarrassing to watch, yet Farke’s parker seems to be made of Teflon.
I challenge anyone to come up with a Head Coach/Manager who has kept his job after an abysmal record like that.
It’s no secret what I think of the Stowmarket Two, me and Dave (R.I.P. My friend), have had several run ins on this matter but it must be pretty obvious now that “they have taken the club as far as they can”.
I would have acceptEd relegation if we had gone down fighting, but quite frankly the performances that the whole football world has witnessed from our ‘team’ (I use the term loosely) these last two months has been nothing short of disgraceful!

It's Parka actually. I'm quite happy with his performance. We've spent the best part of sweet FA. This pandemic is going to take out a lot of clubs. Not spending is going to look like a master stroke this time next year.

This season, particularly what has happened since the restart, has raised big question marks over DF. By the time the season was suspended in early March, it was clear that our approach needed adaptation. Three months of reflection and analysis, albeit without equivalent time with the players on the training pitch, has simply resulted in things going from bad to worse. Far from suggesting DF has answers that will allow us to bounce back immediately and then survive the following season in the EPL, what we've seen suggests he has no answers at all. All the references to extenuating circumstances -- injuries, bad luck, decisions against us, and matches dominated but nevertheless lost (what price "domination" if it leads regularly to losing?) -- simply smacks of someone trying to preserve faith in the face of failure. If he were to say straight out that he had intended to radically change things, e.g. by playing 3 at the back, but had been thwarted by injuries and poor recruitment, more sympathy might be in order. As it is, it just sounds like someone unwilling to concede that he has got anything other than minor details wrong.
Agree with all of this. Some appear to be focusing too much on results since the restart which strikes me as being a tad harsh. Like it or not , injuries have been a major factor this season , I am definitely prepared to reserve judgement until next season before deciding that he is not up to the job.
Also since the restart the five subs rule has handed another big advantage to clubs with squads with strength in depth. My criteria fir next season would be play offs.
We look totally inept in every department, defending, creating chances , scoring , set pieces all total garbage which reflects in our abysmal record since the restart lost them all scoring 1 goal conceding 15.
Farke and Webber didn't put a foot wrong last season and I would be more than happy to give them a fresh start and a couple of transfer windows to put it right.
