Sounds like one of the Allam's fictional attendance numbers. Capacity at a squeeze, but we haven't had one that high since the early 50's no ?
If Wiki is to be believed... On 20 March 1967, Boothferry Park hosted an FA Cup 2nd replay between Leeds United and Sunderland. Over 40,000 fans attended and Leeds United won 2–1. It was standard procedure in the pre penalty shoot-out days for 2nd and subsequent replays to be held on neutral grounds Surprised me.
I remain corrected - I attended the Stoke match ( Gorden Banks brought more than 2,000 family members to B.P.) I noted 42,000 (exactly) in the programme. The previous Wednesday I attended the Sheff United game we won at Bramhall Lane(Knighton's first game I believe) which had slightly over 40,000. Think we averaged just over 22,000 at home that season. No home 40k + crowds since methinks.
Had to smile at this ad title, at least they're FSC certified so there shouldn't be any splinters... House by John Lewis Oxford Pair of Drawers, FSC-Certified.
I dont think Sadiq Khan has thought about his statement regarding statues and street names in London.... or maybe its his way of getting more people into London to ease the economic burden,.,.,.
The People's Poet Rik Mayall passed away 6 years ago today. I wonder how well Alan B'Stard would do in today's climate... guaranteed PM at this point I imagine. Still hoping Rik will one day show up, going "It was a trick! And you fell for it, like the fascists you are!"
