Seems like it is a good time to takeover football clubs? Is it true that the Saudis have put money down on the Mags?
 
Has Mad Bob's Friday/Saturday thread been pulled - can't see it on the first few pages of OTB?
 
The Mags are a weird buy. On the one hand they're in the PL and could theoretically progress with some funding, but I'm not sure where they go and how consistently they could maintain it? Look at Man Utd spending hundreds of millions each year, and they get nowhere. Loads of teams are spending closer to 9 figures than 8, so whoever comes in is stumping up £250m or so for the club and then probably committing to spending all of the team's revenue + about £200m of their own cash for the next 5 years. What position will they be finishing by then? I'd set the over/under line at 7.5 and probably still take the under.

So where's the rake? I don't see it that dissimilar to us really, except that there's a smaller profit that could be made theoretically by getting us to mid-table premier league for 2-3 years to recoup the investment to get us there. The real money in football is in the top 6 unless you miraculously do a Leicester and can trade off it for 5-6 years after.

Seems like the people involved have been trying to force this through for ages though and don't really give a **** about money. Looking forward to all the Mag fans deciding that the Saudis are a great bunch of lads and not a human rights disaster.

Yes, all it would take is for a squad member, or even a family member of the squad to show symptoms, and like you say, it all falls down.

Football or in fact, most things in life, won't fully begin to function again until there's a cure, wether that be in 12 or 18 months time, or even years.

This virus will change our lives for years to come, the knock on effects are building up already, and we are only a month in, with no cure in sight.

sadly it does look likely that the Mags deal will go through. But good luck to them, they haven't suffered quite like we have but nevertheless, Ashley has completely took the piss out of the fans for 10 years. TBH what goes on up the road is irrelevant to us and will be for a good few years yet.

Could this not be viewed on as a good thing (no matter how much it pains me to say it). Football is all about competition and rivalry and there is none more fierce than us and them. This spans from the the players on the pitch to the suits in the boardroom and more importantly the supporter on the street. If you look back through the history of the 2 clubs its uncanny how close with all stats and figures they are, even though at the minute there is a grand canyon of a gap between the 2 clubs but this could be brought back to been closed up within 2 years with the correct decisions been made and money been spent. As we have one eye on the news on the road make no mistake (in my opinion) that the 2 clubs also have an eye on whats going on with each other as the atmosphere and mood around the 2 cities undoubtedly have affect on the people and football is always at the front of everybody's mind. Maybe...just maybe this might push our takeover a little closer especially after the Americans were originally in for them...just a thought like.

Plus it might shut Jim ****ing white up on the radio behind me at work ****ing over this...his sources say that its inevitable that this is going through! 2 months ago his sources told him it was going to be completed within 24 hours!
