I think that might be why the lockdown was brought into immediate effect, my daughter has a luxury rental property company down here and a lot of her Spanish owners have been asking if their properties were available for them to use for the next couple of months, they are fleeing the capital in droves.
Sadly the cheap Spanish resorts have been quite hypocritical, over the years, regarding the Brits.
They've deliberately gone out to attract low rent tourists and provided cheap hotels/drink/food ...
... but throw up their hands in horror when people want to drink, eat and walk around in the sun with their shirts off.
It's all very well asking people to spend their holiday sitting in a room 24 hours a day but it's unreasonable. Being on the street, having a beer, isn't anymore dangerous than sitting in a hotel lobby, probably less so.
I don't believe it merits police, with truncheons, ordering people off the streets. There are more Spanish dog walkers out on the street than beer drinking Brits.
Surely tourists will have to be on the street to get a taxi, go to an airport, etc
The Spanish are passing the buck and trying to shift the blame onto foreigners ...
... exactly what we'd be ashamed of if it was us.
