A lot of people seem to want these Americans to buy our club. To start off with I did, but I'm now at the stage where I'm not sure. These people are worth multi billions, and if the rumours on here are true, they won't buy the club due to it being too 'expensive'. The reported valuation is around £40mill, and that is an absolute bargain considering you get the ground, the training facilities and a debt free club, you couldn't build those facilities for £400mill, never mind £40mill. To put it into perspective, Ashley wants around £350mill for Newcastle, and they don't even own the ground. It seems to me, FPP either don't want it that badly or the other alternative is they are dragging their heals over £5-10mill. If either are the case, do we really want them here?.. Owning a football club isn't a business to expect an income from, and if £5mill is a big deal to them now, how will they go about signing players in this crazy market. None of it makes sense.
I suspect there is an element of truth in what Donald said about them investing in the owners. Not Donald and Methven per se, but perhaps owning from a distance with others doing all the leg work. Its obvious that Donald and co aren't capable enough not are they fiscally savvy enough to get SAFC up the leagues and perhaps that has put FPP off for the time being. It's all guess work though and I prefer the idea that they're waiting into the wings to swoop when the price hits rock bottom.
I haven't, it gives me an option to reveal it. There has been back and forth. Just being objective, but when the same person who said last week that nothing had changed re: FPP based on his sources, and that he was told point blank FPP would take over... Now he's saying he's guessing there's someone else involved because someone else is saying it. Can you blame me or anyone for saying 'hang on...'? All I'm saying is that it's not smug's fault, it's just that we are at the point where the info doing the rounds even from genuine people and sources is quite clearly miles away from being useful. Our fans are getting restless precisely because they think a better option is on the table and if Donald leaves, FPP are most likely. There's just no evidence for this, in fact there's overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Just to reiterate, I understand smug is sending this on in good faith. It's not a dig. Just... we need to accept FPP are not in pole position because from everything we know, all of the statements by Donald and the events that have actually happened, they don't appear to want to be. And all of this is not negativity, this is me saying we should be really happy if we get a new owner and they want to put cash in. Who cares if it's not FPP? Just stop hanging on for them, because they sure as **** don't appear to be hanging on for us.
Y That's why they are billionnaires. They will have had valuations done plus due diligence etc. Maybe that is what we need instead of chancers promising the world and delivering the square root of feck all. In passing rather have these blokes than the proposed Saudi war criminal and murderer who wishes to take over nufc to help 'sport wash' away his disgraceful acts. Having a payday loan company sponsoring you doesnt seem so bad in retrospect albeit many fans dont give 2 hoots who or where the money comes from.
I seem to remember you telling the board that you'd let your obsession with me drop. Now, instead of responding to me directly, you're having infantile digs at me by responding to other posters. As far as groundless speculation and intricately constructed financial scenarios are concerned you're a walking encyclopedia ... ... sadly, for the forum, you're also a talking encyclopedia.
I said it wasn't a dig, but you dont appear to be able to respond without ad hominem attacks. Interesting that you don't talk about the shift away from FPP taking control that you seem to have done. Again, it was about the simple question I asked earlier. How can we know when info is just second hand supposition coming from well-intentioned people? Because I think that's what has dragged us down since this kicked off, the idea that FPP are waiting in the wings and Donald is the sone holding it up. Literally nothing suggests that except your rumours.
I get what you're saying but equally we don't really know the figures involved. Donald said on radio Newcastle that if he sold up he wouldn't feel the need to repay the parachute payments (paraphrasing can't remember exactly what he said). We know he spent £15m on the shares, so maybe FPP think that the club should still be valued around £15m. If Donald wants £40m odd, that's a huge difference. If we go up this season and it's invested properly that £25m could play a massive part in pushing us towards the Premier league. They aren't daft, that'll be in their thoughts and rightly so, the less they spend on buying us the more they can spend on us when they get in whilst still seeing it as a good deal. I'm happy enough if they're being sensible and biding their time. Ultimately we all know we should be capable of going up without them, even with Donald. We've been largely ****e most of the season and we're still in touching distance. Equally there probably wasn't much value in them coming in and spending cash in this league since the players who can do a good job in the league above probably still wouldn't come. Take their time, buy us for the right value and maximise what they can spend when they're here. That'll do me I just hope they are still interested, but following the RAWA meeting I've got no reason to think they aren't
Then says I'm lying ... ... I'm sure all this drivel sounds and looks good, when you type it out, but it's ludicrous to read.
How can you not grasp this? I'm not saying YOU ARE LYING. I'm saying that whoever is feeding you this doesn't have a ****ing clue what is going on! They told you in October it was definitely a takeover: didn't happen You said we'd be pleasantly surprised with the details of FPP's deal: nobody was happy with the loan deal Your source told you last week that their position hadn't changed since september and they still want to buy us Now another source with no discernible first hand info tells you something ambiguous and it's like... what happened to the rest of it?
Did you actually read the OP ... .... this obsession with me is becoming more than a bit daft now tbh.
The noises coming out of RAWA are quite positive and a respected journalist is directly saying FPP are involved. We're a good club and worthy of a good owner.
Every time I see smug has posted on this thread, I get a little excited ( I am that sad really), then I read that its just another interaction.
I post what I can mate and know that there are people waiting to pull me to pieces. There are two lads, on RTG, who are well connected but won't post because of that. They're inconspicuous and want to stay that way, they just want to talk about the football. One works at the SOL, daily, and knows his stuff but he just doesn't want the hassle so only ever pm's a handful of people like Grumpy Old Man.
Aye again, pattern of behaviour, I notice you always cut out anything meaningful from my posts and focus on a tiny phrase. Like I said, your specific info on this 'takeover' has been extremely inaccurate. There's been no takeover. The details were underwhelming, FPP didn't make any bid, and the only accurate bit is that their position hasn't changed, ie: they were never interested in doing what your source said.
I think i know who you're taliking about Smug. They do well to stay under the radar but i keep an eye out for their posts. As they say, Up there for thinking.
https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1218827793603158016 Yes FPP being in pole position is just a groundless Smug fanatasy he's been incorrectly fed. Grow up man, you're like a rat in a bran tub.
FFS kitten, give it a rest marra. You and Smug are never going to see eye to eye so let it go. Most people are happy to hear your opinions, it is after all a message board but why do so many of your posts appear to either be A: Having a go at Smug B: trying to convince people that your view is correct. Don't get me wrong, you make some very interesting points at times but if people choose not to agree with you let it go. I've got years of experience at this as i'm married and my opinions are never correct.
I allow myself to excited mate cos Im the one that has to put up with the me when it falls flat. What is the bit about noises from RAWA?
It isn't a smug fantasy, but it is a lot of 2+2=5 journalism that you have consistently said, and as you can see, whether you chose it or not, people clearly believe you're ITK despite your info that you've been fed not being accurate on this.
