It was a daft appointment, in the first place, and he'll never manage in the PL again.

After the last few managers the next one needs to be a good choice.

As we all know it only takes a bad choice, at this stage, to end up relegated.

If Benitez was that good they'd appoint him but, after taking Newcastle down, I doubt they'd take the risk.

I think he's sticking it out for the Barcelona job. They seem to like him.

He's fluffed every job since but he knows that club inside out and done a great job there last time. That's no guarantee he could do the same again but if I was an Everton supporter, I'd be willing to take the chance on him.

I'll always struggle to entertain their accent, but yeah, their characters are very similar to ours. I was down there for the Cheltenham and Aintree meetings earlier in the year and I don't drink alcohol but the banter and laughs we had in the bars was just what you'd see in the locals around Tyneside.

If there was any job he could succeed at it'd be a second spell at Everton but it's a bit of a romantic viewpoint given his record since and the man himself is about as romantic as dog **** stuck on your shoe so I'm just not seeing it.

Fair play he did do well with them back in the day but there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.

I think they're an aged side that have splashed cash on mediocre replacements.

While Newcastle are a side who's previous manager took great joy in telling everyone they're "not good enough" to inflate his worth.
