There are only around half a dozen L1 games before the end of the year but we have 6 in January.

If we're intending to make signings/shift people out it needs sorting quickly ...

... deadline day signings would mean that we're looking at February before they get started.

I'd hope that we're already identifying targets and gritting our teeth to sign the cheques.

If we don't we could let another season slip by which would cost much more than a couple of decent players.

Think Parkinson said he'd already had a chat with Coton about it. Wouldn't be surprised if he knows exactly who he wants by the end of the month especially as the cup games will give him a good chance to weigh up pretty much everyone in the squad.

I'd risk the money on Maddison although it's not my money I'm risking but I think he will slot in well and get us scoring lots of goals.
We might spend some cash but I'd be surprised if we'd spend big on a player who'll be out of contact in 6 months.

Cannot see them selling Maddison. The difference in revenue is about 5m from League 1 to The Championship so they might as well take the gamble and keep him. That's what I would do if I were in their shoes

Posh will be a nightmare to deal with regarding him, and especially with them knowing we have had investment. I'd love to get him mind

I'd like to see at least a couple in - Winger and a Striker. Hopefully on the first day of the window, it would be nice to be organised for a change

MacAnthony is a different kettle of fish though mate. He won't risk not getting any money for Maddison in the summer.

They won't. If they don't get the 2.5m asking price they'll just gamble on him signing a new contract at the end of the season. Macanthony knows that if they sell him it would probably cost them promotion.

I seem to remember that happening to some other football team

I think he'll already be looking for potential replacements. He likes to get his business done early in transfer windows, and he'll be looking to get money for Maddison while he still can.

We need creativity, that's for sure, and he's one of the most creative players in the division. We would be weakening a rival too.

Exactly even though he is out of contract in 6 month.

I wonder if they would accept less then his release clause or else risk losing him for nothing in 6 months time?

Knowing MacAnthony, as I do, I'd be amazed if he turned down a seven figure offer or thereabouts. If we are going to make that kind of offer mind, we need to be f

Knowing MacAnthony, as I do, I'd be amazed if he didn't snap our hands off for around £1 million. What we've got to be sure of, is can he make the step up to the Championship. Which is the question we should be asking of any of the potential signings in January.
