He is spot on GOM would be nice to meet the bloke and buy him a pint.

He doesn't have to take the time and effort to go through the books and explain them to the majority of fans like myself who don't really understand that side of things. Same with @Kittenmittons he does get grief as does repeat but its good to have a poster like him on the board who also knows the accountancy side.

Just shame GOM wasn't here too as I enjoy reading both their viewpoints on it.
Sorry he puts him down as though he knows more than him

But his accounts are gobbledegook where GOM makes it so we can understand

Plus he has a thing against SD though he can't explain it multiple times

How can it be anything other than positive?

Seems to me that SD/CM have persuaded a business which is globally successful and which has resources which are virtually limitless (the Forbes list rank Michael Dell as the 39th richest man on the planet - down from 12th in 2006!) to invest c.£10m in a third tier English football club which has won nothing for decades and suffered 2 relegations in the last 3 years...

I can`t pretend that I know anything more than is available on open sources about Dell, Fuhrman, Phelan (or the other one) but they are serious players in the world of finance - have a look at the MSD Capital web-site. These are people who stake their reputation on (and make their money from) long-term capital appreciation [they must do as it says so on the web-site!].

To get a return on the £10m they`ll need to stick around and that will require future investment. I guess they`ll have figured that out for themselves...

They will, I guess, want to sell at some point (who wouldn`t) but to get "long term capital appreciation" the club will need to have grown in value...you don`t get that sticking around in League1...

SD/CM need to be warmly congratulated on getting these guys on board.

But let`s not get too carried away...

In the grand scheme of things Dell is worth c.$31 billion... £10m is worth c. $13m that is 0.04% of his overall wealth...

ONS data has the average UK salary as £36,611 per annum...0.04% of that is less than £1500 - quite a chunk of change for most normal people BUT not enough to mean you`re committed to throwing your life savings at to retain...

So "Team Dell" has invested £10m - they`re clearly committed to the project but in my view are just as likely to walk away from the club if the investment looks like it will tank rather than throwing more cash in to turn the corner...

Anyway - on a more important note - anyone know how to change a user name on here (I feel like being safcyellowDELLy for a while at least).

KTF FTM

I had a look at changing usernames but even though I've done it myself before I'm buggered if I can work out how you do it. Anyone know?

I'm buzzing mate didn't doubt you since you said that as had no reason to do so, when are you unbanned from RTG?

I haven't been over there but there will be a lot of posters with egg on their faces!

Saying that probably just say he's wrong it's just an investment not a takeover... I think they are putting in money in now we go up they put more in and take over!

Said it in many posts tonight but I'm absolutely buzzing!

Owe you a pint or two next time at SOL <cheers>
I have not been over there either, why spoil a good day?

He does have a bit of an agenda against him but I don't look into it I just like to see separate views on the same numbers. More information the merrier for me as long as it's not absolute bull ****.

That's the good thing if both posted on here as if one bull ****ted the other could call him out.

I'm very cautious as i just expect bad things to happen to us. If that makes me less than a true fan so be it.
There is being cautious and there is looking for the worst things.

Nothing wrong with being cautious mate

I find that very sad.

How can any true safc fan not be chuffed to bits tonight

Wait!
Wait!
I know this one...

Is the answer:
"because they're not true SAFC fans"?!

They're actually a collection of mags, undercover mags, social misfits, and perennial moaners who get their jollies by trolling SAFC fans on a stupidly popular website with ****posting?

0.04% of £36k is only £15!!

I have noticed that but it still good to see how people who know the financial side tell us.

I'm good at maths but taxes all that bollocks I just leave it up to my accountant.

Even better than my buggered up calculator (head) then :emoticon-0137-clapp

These guys are seriously wealthy if we can get under their skin and get promoted the sky is the limit.

Not just the wealth either its their business connections they are elite businessmen top of their game make wall street guys look like amateurs.

Plus if the passive investor Mr Dell decides he wants to take a punt.. who knows.. 0.01% of his wealth probably be a **** load.

I'm just amazed that any Sunderland fan can try and find a negative about this. Do I wish it was a full takeover? Yes. Would I be happier if they at least bought about 20%? Yes.

This isn't the ideal result, but what it does mean is that we have another 3 (possibly 4) billionaires with a vested interest in how SAFC do. It means we can improve the areas which should give us long term success. It means these people are hardly likely to go elsewhere. It means they are very, very likely to end up with ownership down the line, all we need to do is the relatively simple task of getting out of league one. It means that the current owners don't need to spend on infrastructure, when January comes they can invest in the playing side (we don't need much but some would be good) without feeling like they should be spending on other areas first. It means we've taken the first step to coming back. No way on earth is this their sole involvement in SAFC, it wouldn't be worth their while.

It's sad to see that some are determined to still seek negatives, to still belittle it, to play it down and pretend it means nowt. I think half of them probably wish FPP had walked away completely because it would give them something else in their life to moan about.

Well **** them. I'm happy, I'm looking optimistically to the future for our club again and you know what, **** message boards for tonight, I'm going to go and get pissed because I'm working from home tomorrow. Hope all the decent SAFC fans who are excited about the possibilities that have opened up today have a good drink and a cracking night, cheers all <cheers>:emoticon-0167-beer:
