That's interesting, be great if they can repeat their good work together. I might have missed one but the last good pairing we've had managing the club was Reid and Sacko. They were a proper double act, loved them on Premier Passions. Ronnie
Well I've just listened to the interview in SAFC.com and although Parkinson wouldn't have been my choice, I've got to say that I have a lot more confidence in him than Ross.. I can't speak for his managerial skills just yet but he seems to have a bit of self confidence which is vital for me - as confidence or lack of it rubs off on the squad.
I for one would like to welcome Parki and Parki to the madhouse that is Sunderland. Hope they are incredibly successful as that means lots of full time smiles for me.
He’s come across well. I mean we have to be positive and he’s helped on that side. He proper fancies it and that’s half the battle sometimes.
Having calmed down a bit from my earlier rant, I'm coming round to the idea of Parky. Still wouldn't have ever been my first choice but he's gotta be better than Ross... Right?! I just hope the fans really get behind him / the team to give them a fighting chance. Still think Stewy has been a tight ****, mind.
Watched the ten minute media interview on SAFC and I like the guy and think he looks like a good choice overall. Experience of getting promoted, confident and not suffering from any delusions. It's not hard to believe that the decision was made on him being the best man for the job and not because we couldn't afford Stendel or Pearson.
I’m genuinely excited to see how he shapes things over the coming weeks. I hope people aren’t on his back if this weekend doesn’t go well. Our new start is the Tranmere game for me.
I expect he'll get a reasonable run before people get on his back, tbh Sunderland fans are a bunch of primadonnas for some reason but after they come to terms with us not getting a glamorous appointment they'll come around before long.
Yeah he’s handled that well. No overly bold talk, no bigging it up. Very realistic and he looked comfortable with it. Hopefully he gets it going. For all he wasn’t my choice I’d have anyone on earth in the job if they are doing the business. Won’t judge him on Saturday as he’s had no time, but I will credit him if the lads are fired up. We’ve been flat as a newborn boys tits recently.
Not wanting to put too much of a dampener on your new appointment but as a Bolton supporter I've seen first hand what Parky is all about. I suppose it depends what you're after as a paying supporter. To be fair he did get us promoted and just about kept us in the championship for a season before going back down. He had very limited money to spend and some might say his hands were tied. He's a nice bloke who behaved with class and dignity in the midst of an utter ****show. Having said that, the football being served up throughout his management was absolutely dire. It was a real chore turning up knowing what was coming. Defensive, negative and very direct. Even if you've got the smallest guy up front, he will hoof that ball up there. Zero excitement, zero entertainment value. The majority absolutely couldn't wait to get rid. The difference in the football being played since he left is massive. I genuinely hope for you guys that he changes his one dimensional style because you deserve better but I reckon you're in for a rough ride.
It must be annoying ( but great to watch btw) to be a nufc see ashley put the brakes on spending but you cant blame him. He inherited an absolute clusterfuck from hall and shepherd who had raped and pillaged the club for years. Only his lack of due diligence saved them. Huge liabilities on wages for crap or unfit wages. The lease back of the ground ( which he subsequently bought ). He is a businessman. He wants his money back. Fair enough. Too many fans think that a rich man should not worry about P&L accounts where football is concerned . That is BS. I have every confidence donald wont risk a brass razoo of his own stash for this club. That is an uncomfortable truth we need to take on board
C Cheers for that..excuse while I search for a razor blade. I am not surprised by that . Our football manager Hill is from that group of football dinosaurs that espouses hoofball. He advises donald so it was game over from day 1 ross left. Donald has been fooled by the promotions for what they were worth. Oh and the cheapness of the appt. For years we fans have had to put up with this type of football and owners do so in the knowledge the majority will swallow their pride, bend over and smile. Donald has copped on PDQ to what goes on at safc
And what exactly did our enlightened ex-manager Jack Ross serve up? He had our team playing crap football with little end product.
