Not sure if I am picking up wrong vibes. I thought was abysmal. Parkinson is no better. Both from the womb of hill imo
What's done is done. So what I'm looking forward to now is feedback from our away support after the Wycombe game indicating what (if any) shoots of recovery are showing. For example: How was our shape looking? Did we look comfortable (as a unit) irrespective of the result? How did we look defensively and offensively? What did supporters make of PP's team selection, tactics and substitutions? I appreciate it's very early days and he's had very little time to get his ideas across but I think that first impressions can reveal a lot. EDIT. I now see that he's stated that he intends playing a 'passing game' at SAFC not a 'long ball game' so it will be interesting to see if there are any signs of that. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...s/what-style-football-phil-parkinson-17103047
We are a L1 team. Seriously what does anyone expect? Maybe once we start climbing up the leagues then we could attract a better manager, but at the moment we have to shop in Jackie Whites (no disrespect to JW) and go with what is on offer there. SAFC are only a big team in Sunderland. The rot set in a long time ago and before I was born and I’m 53. As a club we got left behind. When other chairmen and directors could see the value in a team ours couldn’t see ****. They were more concerned with petty little power struggles which realistically didn’t end until Bob Murray took the helm. At least he had a bit of vision. And as much as I love the man history will show that SNQ for all his charm and love for the club didn’t help it’s cause either. Ellis Short tried to pick up the pieces and run with the ****e left behind by Drumaville but as an absent owner he left the running of the club to imbeciles like Bain and Byrne. So he has to share the blame as well. Donald and Methven saw the club for what it was - a distressed asset. They at least had enough about them to try and turn the club. Have they made mistakes? Certainly they have, but considering the basket case SAFC had become they had to do something drastic and that essentially meant a lot of cost cutting. And that is the reason we have ended up with Phil Parkinson from Bolton and not Philipo Parkiniso from Barcelona. In short he is the best we can afford who was actually prepared to come here. Aaaaand relax.
He wouldn't have been my choice, but he's been promoted out of this league with worse sides than us. He has my full support and hopefully he can do it again!
I see that he's gone on record saying that he rejects the idea that he will bring a 'long-ball' style to Sunderland - insisting the Black Cats have players capable of playing a passing game because, having watched videos of our other games this season, he believes we have more technical players than he's had to work with in the past. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...s/what-style-football-phil-parkinson-17103047
I'll rephrase it, "it's not hard to believe if you don't insist that everyone involved with Sunderland is literally dredged up from the foulest pits of hell".
I think 'very little money to spend' is an understatement, my understanding is that the club was imploding from the inside while he was there. Despite that he still got you promoted to the championship and somehow kept you up there the following season, seems a bit much to be expecting sexy football as well. It sounds to me like he was doing the best with what he had at the time, he probably knew you'd have been slaughtered in the championship trying to play expansive football. Glad your club is still going btw, we all were on here.
Mate, you just don't get it Donald and Charlie are incompetent fools. Hill and Cotton will refuse to work with any manager who doesn't play hoof ball. And the tea lady deliberately burns the crumpets of the members of staff she wants rid of. All orchestrated by the devil himself.
All a bit bizarre isn't it. I'm not sure I'd feel it was worth my time following the club if I was that sore about every part of it.
Hope so..... but Ross was meant to bring high press and attacking football so I'll remain skeptical for now....
No hyperbole there at all There are plenty on here suspicious about Donald's motives. There was an overwhelming amount wanted ross gone. Parkinson flunked every poll prior to appt . I agree with the above and you single me out and worse you state I am anti safc. I suppose it gets you some likes from your fellow clappy @dansafcman. You make a lovely couple by the way. I have plenty of posts where I show my absolute regard for Ellis short and what he did. He absolutely dwarfs donald in all aspects of what he did at the club. I have many posts where I extol the virtues of BSA and his stay. But hey you say I hate the club. Research is not your strong point or is being honest your failing..or both? Best get the kleenex out and you and your pal can have a group sob
