I'm quickly coming round to Phillips getting the job. He has to start somewhere and why not with us?

Would certainly get the place buzzing and maybe that would help the team. You can see the likes of Dobson, 09, Robson etc wanting to impress him
Well things went pretty pear shaped at derby. Didnt he follow rowett ro stoke.
Something doesnt sit well with me re skp.
I'm really fed up with hoofball. It's horrible on the eye and it isnt effective these days.
Nice to see modern footy at safc for a change

It's 16/1, I just stuck £25 on ha. Never usually gamble but those odds just seem too good to be true. Especially when he was apparently the first to be interviewed, is out of work, has recent history of getting a team promoted from this league, and is the fans' favourite. Everything just screams it's going to be him, imo.
You need someone to pour a bucket of iced water over your head.
This is safc..the logical and desirable are never allowed into our parlour

I’ve just put £40 on Stendel.

No other reason than it should be him.

Holland paid for that 10 times over last night <laugh>
What odds did you get ?

According to oddschecker hes 25/1 with William Hill...very tempted

I, like a lot on here, would prefer Stendel out of the people who have been mentioned as under consideration. I believe the club said they have spoken to him, but does anyone know if he's actually been formally interviewed?

There's a big difference between "having a conversation" and being invited for talks.
Donald would be very stupid not to interview the guy

I'm hoping for an announcement over the weekend or Monday to give the new man the whole week with the team.

Wonder if they will in their own back room team or keep who is there?
The backroom guys would Have to go in my opinion, give the new manager the staff he wants and not inherits what's already there, new broom and all that...

Got promotion from this division having played good football with Barnsley. Struggled this season but they'd lost key players which isn't ideal when going up a division. Seems to have done a decent job at Hannover as well, so at least he's been okay at more than one place. Barnsley and Hannover are both bigger than the likes of Wycombe, especially Hanover who get crowds higher than us, suggesting that he won't be overawed by the size of the club.

In comparison Ainsworth has done a good, slow and steady job at Wycombe. As mentioned though this is a much bigger club, much bigger expectations, he wouldn't have time to slowly build (we need to go up this season, next at the very, very worst), the football he plays at Wycombe isn't exactly what you'd want to see here (hopefully he'd adapt but no guarantees).

So for me Stendel is deservedly viewed above Ainsworth who is seen as one of the front runners. There's others in the mix as well of course, but he certainly deserves to get an interview (which I'm sure he will), probably alongside Cook, Ainsworth, pearson (if he wants it), Sol Campbell and Phil Parkinson. Even that is maybe too big of a shortlist!
Oddschecker have Gary Monk at 4/1 favourite :(

No thanks....

I wouldn't worry about odds to be fair. If nothing else the owners know they need to get this decision right. They need to show a bit of ambition. I'm sure they'll be sensible enough to know that the least they can do is give us a manager who will try and play decent football. Going up is the key thing but you know what, the few times we actually try and play football I think we look streets ahead of other clubs at this level, trouble is that we barely do it!

It would be a huge gamble giving him the job and this Stendel on paper appears to me to be the standout candidate.

But something is niggling me that because he knows what we expect, the players know he is a bit of a legend here and he has done his time coaching that he might just pull it off

I think Phillips could galvanise everything, but Shearer knew what to expect, he was a legend up there, and we know how that turned out.
With parachute payments ending, we can't afford to fail, so imo we need to appoint a more proven option, and from the names put forward, Stendel looks the ideal candidate.
This isn't the time for sentimentality, much as I love the little fella.

Stendel, spoken to, short odds, now right out.
Ainsworth spoken to, short odds, now right out.
Parkinson, reports of an interview, short odds.
Phillips, publicly stating he wants the job and that he's applied, odds shortening.

I wouldn't read anything into Parkinson just yet.
