Getting like RTG all over again.
Due to the pondlife from there coming here just to have a go at smug.
Pretty difficult to prevent disease from spreading once it gets a grip.
Thing is some of these people have nothing in their life but to spread their ill will and dismal view of life on everyone around them.
Smug is a great target
He is envied by them for being everything they are not and which they could never be.
They are overjoyed he got something wrong ( unintentionally ) and they want to make sure he suffers for it and to feel despised like they are.
It wont work.
But in doing this they dont care if they stuff this board up.
Shame on them

Getting back on thread, what's the latest on the takeover? Was this big meeting in London yesterday as previously mentioned by @Smug in Boots and others or is it on Friday now? I know SD said we'd get an update by the weekend but can't see where/if the rumours shifted to Friday.

He said at the Consett gig 1-2 weeks. That was 2 weeks ago today. He then followed this up the next day on twitter. He's since said (Radio I think) Friday and then somewhere else by the weekend.

Good luck with that, I’ve just spent ages reading the “takeover” threads on here and over the road and I’m no further forward to when I started.

Rewriting a history a bit to say he loved us.
When we got relegated he couldnt get out quick enough and was quite surly until he got his way. Understand it was in the interests of his career but the way he went about it....
There is too much unrealistic romanticism about ex players and managers.
The football world is venality personified.
People need to get shot of the notions about people 'getting us' and other associates frog5hit.
It's all about fame, money and adoration.
The rest is background noise at best.
Remember bent kissing the badge barely a month before he on his way.

He did, but he also remained for 2-3 years earlier when in reality he could and should have pushed for a move, which was absolutely to the detriment of his career.

I don’t know a single person who begrudged him leaving, or expected him to stay at that time.

Think i've made my peace with this deal going tits-up......It would be a huge bonus if something came from it now. I'm really only interested in who will we choose as manager as this will tell us much more if we stay in this league or get promoted.

I said this the other day mate and that’s where I am with it.

You can read between lines and convince yourself it’s on or off, I’m of your thoughts, I’m gonna assume it’s off and take the thunderbolt of euphoria that comes if it isn’t.

Let’s just think about getting out of this ****ing league for a bit.

To be fair to him. He probably wanted to get away seen as though one of his team mates was very cosy with his wife.

I’m the same, any good news on the takeover front would come as a bonus to me.

If they’re nervous due to the fact we’re not in an automatic promotion spot, then they shouldn’t really be getting involved with a football club. If we’d won the last few games and been in 2nd place, would they have been happy to sign up? We could then have gone on to lose 2 or 3 in a row, that’s football.

We could get promoted this season and still spend 4 or 5 seasons trying to get out of the Championship even with money, took Villa a while and Boro are still trying.

Still believe we’re a bargain buy for anyone looking for a long term investment due to what we already have in place and the potential for improvement, just hoping these fellas believe that as well.

I’d take Holloway me, not the glamours choice but he’d come in and get an instant lift and has the character to be the manager at a big club.

I’ll get my tin hat.
I agree, I genuinely feel he'd be desperate for it and would love the chance... complete opposite of a moyes.

If they have shortlisted 5 managers already (plus any out of work), doesn't that suggest the takeover negotiations are finished one way or another? They wouldn't take on a new manager with everything still up in the air. GA being one of them suggests to me the list is relatively cheap and it will be bad news on the takeover.

At the same time, who would be a realistic target who would drop down the divisions to come? It's likely to be someone doing well in the lower leagues or someone out of work in my opinion.

I'm still very doubtful that we'll get major investment (maybe someone will come on in a minority capacity), but if we did I imagine the key appointment would be a DoF type, we might still be fishing in the same/ similar pond for a manager

The fact that SD has begun the manager recruitment process, says to me that there will be no takeover of the club, more an investment only deal that leaves SD in overall charge and main shareholder of the club.

He would not be hiring a manager now, if there were going to be new owners by the weekend.

Or the new investors have been onboard with it all the long and are actively involved in the recruitment, we dont know whats happening all we can do is keep hitting F5 every few minutes till summit happens
