    100 metres at 8.15.

Coleman will win easily. Hughes is capable of a bronze.

True that. We all buy stuff that contributes to the problem. But as I said, we've been drip fed this ideal from the big companies that provide us with cheap goods and told it's a good thing because 'market forces' are driving down costs for consumers. Only it isn't. There are hidden costs, to the people producing the goods in the first place and the environment that is plundered to meet this demand for more and more stuff.

It's not easy to extricate yourself from it. We're so embedded in a culture of consumerism and the demand to have whatever we want, when we want it, from any part of the world, at any time of the year, delivered next day and we want it cheap.

I'm trying to move myself away from that ****. I know people have a laugh and take the piss about my non TV, second hand shoes, hippy ***** vegan stuff. But that's me trying to do things differently. I'm far from being apart from it all. But I'm trying to make a start.

There were only two who only ever posted on that thread and, yes, both of them now live there. It’s the best place for them although I suspect it will end badly for one of them!

Quite a few but not everyone. I haven't, although I've looked, and I've not seen Stan on there, and Tobes has disappeared (probably on hols). Don't think I've seen Piskie on there.

I’ve had a look in. It’s 80% Twitter spam and the locals already seem to be getting restless.

I always felt how you do with the Apple market and iphones, it was like witnessing a queue of clones, waiting to buy the products. But if it's not them it's going to be some other alternative, who are just as big globally.

I didn't know it had migrated to GC. I haven't been on there, I might take a look at some point.

The politics thread was like wading through treacle though. There's so much baggage between posters it just can't ever get beyond the personal spats.

That's the problem with the unfettered capitalist model. It's all about bottom line profit. So if one company decides to operate ethically, it's costs them and their customers more. And there will always be somebody who doesn't give a **** about anything but profit, knowing that they will attract more custom because they can offer the same thing cheaper.

I think the problem is though especially with people such as apple, their products are not cheap, investment goes into the initial technology and advertising but after that it's all win, win for them, unless a product fails. Even then apple tend to get round their short falls, by being evasive with the truth. And let's not forget technical advances are at such a pace they sometimes are purposely delayed, because once the market is flooded with the latest editions, they have to move that product before advancing to the next stage. Again win, win for the global company, while the mug customer will part with more cash in another 12 months time, and the slave labour is still paid a pittance.

    Which is a scandal tbf.

Some **** gave into that Toby **** who for some weird reason decided there should be no place to discuss omelettes.
