They probably thought the fans would come down on the side of the football club's owners in the row with the council. But they didn't.

No thoughts as to how playing with one of the greatest players of all time, the finest Bobby Charlton said he ever played against, would have helped the development of all those he played with.

 

Agreed. It was a petty, truculent move though. Same as no open top bus. But it was their attitude and approach to the fans which alienated the fans not vice versa. The sad thing is it could have all been so different.
The vast majority of fans would never been happy with the name change. A few would have been happy with whatever we were called and could have played in tutus with pink shirts with yellow blobs on as long as it was in the PL and they could sit and gaze with rapture on Stevie G and Wazza whilst being unconcerned much about City, insisting people sit down and keep quite so as not to intrude on their hero worship.

They have never cared about what the fans wanted unless it was something they would do anyway

I thought I was joking, apparently not! It's being reported that when Dale acquired Bury, the EFL did not do their normal checks as the club was already at risk! It's also been highlighted that reference the companies previously involving Dale, a total of 51, 43 of them have been liquidated!

 

I didn’t think you were joking, as that is how quite a few clubs change hands. (Just in case, the legal requirement is purchase and consideration, no matter how little the consideration is, hence a quid.)

EFL are directly responsible for this. Fit and proper is bollocks. They allowed a serial asset stripper to waltz in without recourse. He may be in for fraud too as the CVA is slanted towards his daughters partner who may receive £1.7m for a £70k debt!

For the EFL to close it down is akin to shoving the dirt under the rug. An answer is to let it go, let new owners come in and recommence the fixture, **** Steve Dale. Some of the terms could be they make payments to the many local suppliers and staff who have been shafted.

I know this sounds ridiculous but I honestly believe the name change idea came as a result of him being outbid for his HU11 CTY number plate , he was determined to get it but another guy won - I attended the auction as I was hoping to get the plate myself, it went for over £40k with commission so I fell a bit short in the end - he stated that he wanted to save it for the city and for Hull City football club - less than 3 months later he came up with the name change because City was boring and the rest is history - for me it was vindictiveness because he didn't get his own way

 

The phrase that you use 'supporter relations' hides behind the deplorable actions of the Allam's, and you appear to be the only poster that needs this confirming to you. Well done, now take your head out of the sand as diplomacy is clearly not your strong point.

 

I replied to the following, saying that the poster nearly got it right. Investment stopped because of two things, the group finances and supporter relations. Take what I posted out of context if you like, but in relation to the post I replied to there was and is nothing else to add. Investment stopped in 2014 after the FA appeal was lost and after Allamhouse had poor results. The Allams always wanted their money back, but prior to 2014 they invested money in the club to achieve it. That’s why I said “nearly”. Today we are not recovering from that period, we are suffering from a lack of interest and investment from the owners, who directly state that supporters are to blame. We are actually still recovering from the Duffen/Bartlett age, the time when we nearly went bust again and that led to the current regime and the discontent.

He could have tried to change the name to SH76VMP or summat if he just wanted to add value to his car reg.

Then again the EFL based on their approach recently, may allow 72 hours for DD, which is a joke in itself and makes any potential offer unworkable. That said the EFL have to rescind their decision which I feel is unlikely.

I also feel at face value (the cynic in me) that the approach by C&N was a plausible process to raise their own profile given they operate in the sector
