Nearly right regarding the Allams.
The investment stopped for two reasons. Group financial pressure and supporter relations.

Nothing to with spitting their dummy out because they didn’t get their way with the name change and declaring in future the club would be run for the benefit of the shareholders, themselves, and they would be doing what was morally right for them then?

Nah, it's the fans fault for not loving them and for not giving them our money.

The council's fault for not giving them the freehold etc.

I'm just waiting for the 'celebrity' Bury fan to come out of the woodwork....
How many clubs will there be in say 10 years time? With the way the premier league is dominating everything and sucking up the cash from the lower leagues I reckon the 92 will become the 60 by 2029.
On a positive I think (hope) that BWFC will survive in the short term, but maybe they are not viable in the long term.

PS...The one thing which might save HCAFC is the catchment area, but don't quote me on that one.

If you look at how many professional clubs there are in similar sized and even larger countries the surprising thing is that we have still got 92 league clubs.

Our catchment area is small compared to other clubs. Ask Cityman.

Once the development opportunity was lost, they invested money in the club and built up its debt to Allamhouse. When Allamhouse profits fell and supporter relationships broke down they simply stopped further investment. It does not take a potted history lesson, to state what happened.

Supporter relations fell when they came up with the stupid name change idea, couldn’t accept the fans didn’t like the idea and said anyone disagreeing with them was a hooligan and could die when they wanted, They didn’t improve the relationship by stating that the fans were irrelevant. That may have been the case whilst they were receiving the PL riches but they are now finding that isn’t the case and are laughably building bridges and trying to reach out to fans they have driven away.
The fact is if they had said, sorry, the money has run out and we can’t carry on pumping money into the club, but you, the fans are the most important thing and we hope your valuable support will continue whilst we try to find a buyer at a reasonable price, a lot of fans not going now would have said “Fair enough, you saved the club when no one else was interested so we will continue to do our bit by putting money in through the turnstiles”.

You win, it was nothing to do with financial pressures or supporter relations.

Spot on :emoticon-0148-yes:

Large clubs have come to the aid of smaller clubs in the past. Chelsea saved Aldershot Town when they brokered a deal for their youth teams to play at the EBB stadium.
Didn’t Man U used to play reserve games at bury but stopped as the pitch was a shocker?? Pretty sure that happened
Sounds familiar.

I'm not sure there's much left to argue on this point !
If you are happy to go ,good on you ,
Enjoy yourself .
If you aren't happy and don't want to go, also fair do,s

This discussion was about the causes of the bad relations with the supporters. Chicken or the egg situation. I put down the breakdown to the Allams attitude to the fans and their approach to things when a different, less confrontational approach would have brought different results.

I agree with that
But what gets lost is they did listen to some supporters
Just the wrong ones. And that gets lost in the noise.

Does that surprise you?
I say that financial pressures and supporter relations stopped investment, what is wrong with that. Its a simple fact.
The detail, is a matter of public record and has been debated on here countless times. The Allams did not stop investing because there was no profit in running a football club, they believe/believed that they could run a club profitably if the supporters would allow them to do it their way. This changed in 2014 when they announced that no more money would be put in. Way after the protests, but only shortly after the group profits fell.
Its a simple statement, not pro or anti Allam.
