    Yeah Welbeck looks very promising.
Personally I prefer would prefer Rodwell to Hendo, But yeah Hendo looks good too.

    Yeah Dutch connections too.
    Rate McGregor too.

I think Stekelenberg would be around £12- £16 mil.

Yeah, and the player before that was Ronaldo. God, what a ****ing knob Queiroz is...

You gotta be kidding me? Ok, you may be too young to remember the joys of Russell Beardsmore and Ralph Milne in the 1980s, but you can't honestly claim this team is worse than the 2002 vintage. You know, the one that lost at home to Bolton and West Ham with the water tight back three of Barthez, Silvestre and Blanc and third choice striker being the mighty Forlan. And how about the Kleberson, Djemba Djemba, Bellion, Fortune and again Silvestre effort of 2004. You know, the one that lost 4-1 at Wastelands and also lost away to Wolves, in a season when Wolves finished bottom. Goddamn plastics.

Yes, the midfield is full of average / good players with no real stand outs apart from Nani atm. But we have the best attack in the league and a solid defence. And until yesterday our away form was pretty much exactly the same as it was up to the same point in the 1999 season (W3D8L0 = 17 points vs W4D5L2 = 17 points in 1999). You guys are worse than Arsenal fans for predicting the end of our season based on a single bad result.

I think bruceandpally has hit the nail right on the head. Our fans (and those of Arsenal and Chelsea) have been spoilt by the period from 2004-2009 when the PL winners regularly got around 90 points and lower table teams just rolled over and died. I think we're now moving back to the pre 2003 situation where the winning team usually ended up with around 80 (79 in 1999) point and the lower teams were more willing and able to take points of the top teams. They're also willing to play at a higher tempo, which is why almost all the top teams have struggled to keep the ball during these high intensity periods. We need to get used to it, cos I doubt the easy days of smashing lower half opposition week in week out are coming back any time soon.

Oh and you mean to say Querioz managed to spot ronaldo, a player that half of europe was trying to sign, well done him. <doh>

Thanks for the history lesson. Problem is, you've conveniently pointed out the worst players whilst ignoring the best there, haven't you. Now, I'll give you a little history lesson. In 2002 we had Roy Keane still playing at a high level, we had the best crosser of a ball I've ever seen in Beckham, we had Scholes and Giggs at their peaks. Not to mention the most prolific striker we ever had in RVN. Right now we have an off form Darren Fletcher, Gibson, Carrick and a manager saying we don't need strengthening. But we do, don't we?

"and also lost away to Wolves, in a season when Wolves finished bottom. Goddamn plastics." If this was meant to be ironic, then I salute you. Otherwise, I suggest you would have been wise to leave this little gem out. Even in 2004, when again you have conveniently mentioned our worst players, the midfield was better than this current group. It's poor. Ignore the points and watch the team play. Have you ever seen our midfield get played off the park in the manner that is happening on a weekly basis this year? No conjecture, an answer will suffice. I've said our attack and defence is strong and I'm happy with it but when our midfield is so embarrassingly poor that they can't keep the ball off anyone away from home, you have to ask why that has not been addressed. Comparing it to our strikeforce and defence only highlights the weaknesses further.

We bought Ronaldo, off our feeder club, after he tore us apart in a preseason friendly. Had that game not taken place, I have serious doubts as to whether we'd have signed him. regardless, I would expect our Portuguese Assistant Manager to be able to spot a future world player of the year whilst he resided in our feeder club. It's hardly worthy of praise. Wenger had already made overtures at this stage and had he not been at our feeder club, he would almost certainly have wasted a sizable proportion of his career at Arsenal.

The sheer fact that Quieroz recommended Bebe casts doubts on the guy's scouting abilities (the fact that he's never been employed as a scout also does this) imo as the guy is wretchedly poor and before anyone says he's "raw," no he isn't. He's **** and always will be. He isn't going to magically learn how to play football in 2 years' time. he'll still be ****.

Merry why does it matter? The season is over and done with now. Might as well give up and I don't expect a win from home this whole season. We will finish 4th

Yes, I've mentioned our worst players from those eras. But you've done exactly the same from this era. You've conveniently ignored VDS, Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Rafael, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov, Hernandez and Valencia. Yes, our CM is probably as weak as it has been at any point in the last 20 years, but the rest of the team is fine. I can't believe that you think it's fine to claim that "never during Fergie's reign has our team appeared so weak" based on two positions and three players, and then say I'm wrong to cite three teams that were all weaker than our current line up, and performed worse, based on the same criteria. That's the kind of plastic hypocrisy I'd expect from Arsenal fans, not our own.

No, I have not seem that happen since the late 1980s. But then I've never seen our defence ship goals like they did in 2002 where we conceded the most goals we ever have in a PL season, including the ones when we used to play 42 games. Nor have I ever seen us struggle to hit the target like we did in 2003/04 and 04/05 when we scored a pathetic 58 goals. At least this season we have a strong defence, a strong attack, and good wing play to counter our weakness in the centre of the park, we're scoring freely and the defence is pretty tight. Yes, I'd love us to sign a top quality CM playmaker to play alongside Fletcher, who I still rate as a box to box in spite of his recent poor form. But I'm not going to start wringing my hands and make BS statements about this being our weakest team in the last 25 years based on the fact that we are lacking quality in two positions out of eleven.

I don't disagree the argument that our midfield is weak, but I think you are making too much of an issue out of it. But I guess the next few weeks, and the big games against Chelski, Arse, Citeh and the Scouse will show which of us is right... <ok>

Yes they will. Unfortunately. I don't think I'm making too big an issue of it. If you have a strong defence and strong attack but a poor midfield, then the logical thing to do would be to improve the midfield. We haven't though. We have basically sacrificed number 19 imo due to penny pinching and it's a travesty. The biggest revenue earners in the world of sport won't sign quality when they are so clearly required. I don't care whom you blame out of the owners and the manager because the bottom line is that the signings should have been made.

And you are a sad loser who pretends to support a club that you don't actually have any affiliation towards. Well done. Now go on and look forward to FT9's Chelsea debut later. You've written your article and your dubious services are no longer required here.

No I am a Utd fan but football is just not a massive priority to me. You probably think about football daily.

Northern ireland isn't another country mate. We're all UK and Northern ireland is the only "country" that even gets a mention on your passport tbf, not England. However, you are still a asad loser who pretends to support United. No need to get defensive. You are a rubbish WUM and no one was taken in by your article. In fact, I used it as a vehicle to vent my frustration so I guess I owe you a thank you. Thank you for being sucha terribly poor WUM! <ok>

Dont worry guys sir alex will say we are great and amazing and it will be all ok. if something taste like **** there is only so much you can improve on it and I amfraid that is what is wrong with our team. I fully expect them to collapse. Rooney needs to be sold because he is trash. Fletcher should go to. Carrick as well and Scholes should retire and Gibson to. We need a whole new midfield. Nani will go to Madrid very soon and Valencia is nothing special. Tough times for utd

People are called plastic not only for location but also a lack of loyalty ...

Anyway to the point of your post we have
    VDS (for now anyway)
    Rafael
    Berbatov
Rooney (when he is on form)
    Hernandez

    EDIT: forgot Ferdinand.

who i would not say are dross added to your 5 then we only need a few signings to have a great team.
    A VDS replacement
    A centre midfeilder

    Its not that bad
